  1. At the Mara at AKL-I have been able to get a good tofu scramble, vegan waffles, quinoa, chakalaka, and plantains for breakfast. Jiko was a disappointment. Tofu was a big block unseasoned… Ick. Have eaten at Trails End several times and only twice was it good, the other times were down right awful.
We have a reservation in September and have plans for Mediterranean Market, Captains grill and California Grill, hoping to find some new items. I do hate that I have to say that I have an allergy to meat, dairy and egg. I don’t know why they can’t use the word vegan. When I ask they say ” do I have an allergy or just not wanting to eat it” this makes me wonder if they are not as careful if it is not an allergy.

  2. I recently stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge and had some success adding vegan protein to breakfast and dinner options by talking to the chef on duty. I was able to add chopped falafel on top of the Mara Salad, and substitute a side of fried falafel with vegan waffles. At Boma, my sister and I custom-ordered an African-spiced tofu dish to supplement the vegan options on the buffet.

  3. We just ate at Sanaa and they no longer have a separate vegan menu. When we told them we were vegan they initially gave us an allergy menu (chock full of meat options), along with the regular menu. There were a few things on the regular menu that were vegan, but I didn’t see the samosas – I guess they no longer have them there, or they might be seasonal. The food was still great, though, and our waiter was very helpful. We’re trying Jiko on Tuesday, so I’ll report back!

    1. I wonder where the samosas went! Hopefully it was seasonal and they’ll be back. Can’t wait to hear about Jiko! I highly recommend the cauliflower flatbread.

      melissa

      1. Jiko still had the separate vegan menu, and it was DELICIOUS! Our waiter said that they might be phasing out the seiten in the coming months. He also told us the chef is planning on introducing tamales to the vegan menu starting next week.

      2. We also went to Trail’s End, but unfortunately we didn’t get Chef TJ. The food was okay, but nothing special, and the dessert was fruit and coconut ice cream. I think if I hadn’t been hoping for an exceptional meal it would have been above average, but as it was we left disappointed.

  4. My kids & I dined at The Crystal Palace for lunch & I was BLOWN AWAY!! The chef took me on a tour of the buffet & went over EVERY item – what it was made with & how it was prepared. I tried everything!! The chef also advised that gf/vegan rolls & earth balance would be delivered to my table ASAP! For dessert (always my favorite 😉) they offer Enjoy Life chocolate chip cookies & Tofutti ice cream. I was able to make my own ice cream sandwiches!!
Planet Hollywood for dinner was a knockout! Veggie fajitas were amazing & when I advised the server I was vegan she quickly let me know that the fiesta rice was prepared with animal stock & would switch mine to jasmine rice.
Erin McKennas was our next stop. Oh, my!!! The soft serve was good, chocolate chip cookies & thin mint cookies were AWESOME!! My daughter had a pink cupcake (vanilla?) and it was average – but she ate the whole thing (of course!)
I can’t that the writers of this site enough! We all know how challenging it can be to eat vegan – sites like this make travel enjoyable & easy.
THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!

  5. We spent last week at the Caribbean Beach resort. The vegetable quinoa wrap at the Old Port Royale food court (the Deli section) is vegan if you ask to leave the feta off of it; also, ask for the wedge salad side rather than the jerk-spiced chips. You can get penne with marinara sauce at the Pasta & Pizza section; just ask for it without meatballs or sausage. It’s filling after a long day at the parks but a bit dull.

I didn’t see any portobello mushroom sandwich or Caribbean salad with tofu offerings at any of the food court sections.

  6. The tofu scramble at chef mic key’s is divine. Chef says oatmeal and grits are vegan. Grits were so good I still can’t believe there was no butter in there. The chef made me a plate of vegan Mickey waffles and brought out REAL MAPLE SYRUP!! Apparently most places have it upon request so make sure to ask for it.

  7. The chef at Coronado Springs’ Pepper Market was very accommodating. They make a great veggie empanada with black beans & rice. Excellent

  8. I feel your pain. ….the only thing we could get when we were there was a pre-made snack container with falafel chips, veggies, and hummus. It was good, but more meal options would be nice. I was also able to get soy milk for coffee, but they needed to know I was allergic to dairy prior to giving it to me…. little lies never hurt right? It is sad that you have to be allergic to something to get healthy options from Pop Century though.

  9. A word of warning re: Pop Century…

The tofu dish is NOT vegan as-is; the tofu marinade contains dairy-based pesto. I was able to get the dish without it, however, be advised that you may have a long wait. When I tried to double-check ingredients, the chef on duty wouldn’t respond to pages. By the time I finally got my food, almost an hour had passed.

And it’s DISGUSTING. The veggies are severely overcooked into an unidentifiable reddish sludge. If my blood sugar hadn’t been dangerously low at the time, I would have sent it back (something I have only done when restaurants have tried to serve me something I can’t eat).

Such a waste of ingredients…for once, a veganizable option with actual protein in it, and it’s nearly inedible.

The veggie burger wasn’t vegan (even though the “vegan items” list said it would be) and I don’t think the buns are either (they were the super-cheap kind that tend to have whey as a filler), so I wouldn’t count on those.

I am due back at Pop in a month (I can’t afford a resort with better food) and won’t even bother trying to eat there. Not worth it!

    1. That’s awful about your experience. I have not personally dined there and have had several vegans mention the tofu dish. I’ll be adding a warning to it. Also overcooked veggies and red sludge sound incredibly disgusting.
Typically the veggie burgers are not vegan and you have to request a separate patty that is offered. Most places carry a Malibu Gardenburger patty which is vegan. Was that the case or did they not offer any suggestions?
Thank you so much for this comment. We can not be there all the time so we like to keep as up to date as possible through others experiences as well. Please let us know (if you dare to try to eat there again) if anything changes on your next trip.

      Best,
      Melissa

      1. I know, it was vile. I’ve heard of other plant-eaters liking the veggies (!!!), but maybe I was just unlucky enough to eat it on two really bad nights (had to go back the second time due to being denied service at one of the parks).

They only had one kind of veggie burger and it wasn’t the Malibu. They weren’t very helpful about it, either – just a blunt “no”.

I’m not even going to try eating there again. It’s not worth the frustration, the long waits, and the noise level.

  10. I am in the UK and its mind blowing to find a website that tells me about vegan dining at WDW. Hats off to Vegan Disney World and to all the contributors. It will make my trip in August a lot more easier and take the worry away for feeding my 8 yr old and my 5yr old (going to be 6 at Disney). Maybe I will order her a surprise NYC cake.

    1. You should definitely order a surprise cake! The girls at Erin McKenna are all very nice and helpful too! So glad we could help you with your planning and be sure to let us know about your experience. 🙂

  11. Chef Johnny made us Vegan Tonga Toast and potatoes at Kona Cafe this morning!! Amazing. Best breakfast ever (even before we were Vegan!). He even brought us earthbalance and fresh cut strawberries. Compliments to the chef and many thanks!! We will definitely be back!

We also ate at Sanaa 2 nights before and it was so nice to see a separate Vegan menu. Made meal time much more relaxing not having to worry about what would be Vegan.

Thank you for posting all these Disney options for Vegans!!! Made our vacation that much better!

  12. We also had a great experience at Citricos in the Grand Floridian last year – the chef came out right away and made me a grilled vegetable concoction that was wonderful.

  13. Thank you so much for this great website!!!!! I am taking my family to Disneyworld for about a week and was really worried about what I can eat with my vegan diet, but now I know it will be great!!!!!

  14. Hi! This korming I had quinoa at the Mara! It was made with water and it had a bit of cinnamon. It was great. Also, i ate lunch at Makkrash (?) in Morroco and i asked the waiter for vegan options and he ordered me the vegetable couscous prepared with olive oil. It was also amazing and so was their hummus! Btw i had a bit of popcorn and it tasted just like butter! To end the day, i had a lemon sorbet in France!

    1. Oh cool I will definitely add the Quinoa to our list! And we LOVE Marrakesh, the hummus is so good. The popcorn has a butter topping but it is not real dairy, it’s pretty good. Sounds like you had a filling trip to Disney World! Love to see this, thanks for commenting.

      Melissa

  15. The Art of Animation resort has a bunch of foods to snack on too: vanilla/chocolate Silk, Odwalla bars, a fruit smoothie station, & a fruit salad station!

  16. We will be staying at Pop Century in 2 weeks. I’ve heard that they have Babycakes desserts, is this true?

    1. Hi Kinsey! According to Babycakes website they have food at Pop Century. We have found that most places just carry their mini cupcakes now, however you can find their donuts and some other treats in Animal Kingdom. 🙂
      Melissa

  17. Recently, we ate at the Gasparilla Island Grill (counter service) at The Grand Floridian Resort. They have a salad with grilled vegan “chick’n.” The salad was really great though because they put your choice of greens and veggies into a big (clean) bowl and mix with dressing before adding the chick’n. I got spring mix with mushrooms, garbanzo beans, peas, roasted red peppers, cranberries, shredded carrot, and cucumber. lots of choices! The chef said the orange mandarin sesame dressing is vegan and it was delicious!

  18. At Coronado Springs Pepper Market, it took a bit of waiting for a knowledgeable chef, but my daughter was finally able to get a vegan burger and fries. And hummus and sorbets are available at Cafe Rix next door.

  19. My wife and I went to ‘Ohana for breakfast and had a terrific experience. The chef came to our table to give us our options and we were served a platter of vegan Mickey Waffles, amazing fried potatoes and sauteed vegetables. One of the best experiences and we had at a Disney restaurant. On another morning we ate next door at Kona Cafe and I was delighted to find out that they could make me vegan Tonga Toast! We will definitely return to both of these restaurants on our next trip.
