BoardWalk Bakery’s Secret Vegan Muffins

If you’re staying at a Walt Disney World resort you probably are wondering what your vegan breakfast options are at your resort prior to going. Most guests opt for a quick service or grab and go style meal when staying here so they can hurry along to the theme parks. I recently stayed at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and went to check out the options at their quick service location, the BoardWalk Bakery.

Upon entering there is absolutely nothing mentioned for breakfast that is vegan other than fruit. (They do have a veggie sandwich when it’s lunch/dinner time). It’s a surprise to see that is the case when other resorts have some really great vegan quick service breakfasts, looking specifically at Artist’s Palette at Disney’s Saratoga Springs vegan breakfast sandwich!

After leaving disappointed but on our way to a breakfast reservation, we spoke with a chef at the BoardWalk Bakery and found out they have off menu vegan and allergy friendly muffins that you can get. So after breakfast we went back over there to see how to get them.

When you enter you head to the cashier to order your food. We asked if we could get the allergy muffins and the cashier left to see what the chef had to say. Shortly after they returned and told us we could get blueberry, chocolate chip, and double chocolate; we ordered one of each. They then asked if we wanted it to be warmed up as they are frozen, so we obviously opted for that.

The muffins were all absolutely delicious. They are apparently gluten friendly as well, and I would have never known that based on taste alone. They were hot as could be when we got them, I struggled to hold them to take photos, but they were so good to eat that hot.

The blueberry muffin was topped with big sugar chunks and was full of plenty of blueberries. This was a great option for those who don’t love chocolate.

The chocolate chip one had gooey chips in it and melted in your mouth. This one was good both hot and room temp.

The double chocolate one was full of cocoa flavor and the chocolate chips were super melty. This one wasn’t as good once it wasn’t hot, it had more of a chalky chocolate flavor, but when warmed up it was perfect.

Now that I know about these muffins I may be making it a regular stop to enjoy these. We were told that if you wanted a cupcake from here they would put a vegan buttercream on the muffins for guests. We were told by the chef they usually have a plain vanilla one (presumably more so used for cupcakes) but they didn’t offer it to us.

If you’re staying at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn or are near the Epcot resorts area I highly recommend trying these muffins. Plus, the more people who get them maybe they’ll put them (and an actual breakfast option) on their menu!

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
