Socially Distant Character Breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace

Disney re-introduced character dining at select locations when the parks reopened and have slowly added a few more options. One of the first to re-open was Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort. This character dining is a bit different than in the past, but is still a fun and unique way to meet some characters during your trip.

Topolino’s Terrace is located on the top floor of Disney’s Riviera Resort. It offers amazing views of Disney World and is a must see after your meal.

During this meal we encountered Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy. When we were seated our host told us where the characters would be standing when they came out so we could be prepared for photos of them. They have specific spots they stand during the meal and they rotate around to interact with the guests. This is a great way to do character dining, and honestly my preferred way so I don’t have to stop eating and take a photo worrying about food in my teeth!

Topolino’s Terrace is a prix fix breakfast. This means the price is the same no matter what you get. When we went it was about $41 per adult. With your meal you have some inclusions, the Passion Fruit Orange Guava Juice is one of them. You can also opt for other juices or coffee. They also have breakfast cocktails and mimosas.

You begin the meal with a pastry basket. The vegan pasty basket is honestly a joke. We were given two Enjoy Life Cookies and two of the loaves of bread that come with the dinner entree and some vegan butter. Our friend dining with us who is not vegan was given two chocolate chip muffins, two croissants, and two strudel type pastries as well as an accompaniment of a fruit sauce, chocolate sauce, and another. Seeing ours in comparison to hers was pretty sad. Plus our bread was super hard and not enjoyable.

For the vegan entree here they have a Wild Mushroom Scramble. While it comes as an omelet and not a scramble, it was very good. They use Just Egg for the omelet and it is filled with mushrooms, tomato, and spinach.

The omelet itself wasn’t overly flavorful, but it was cooked very well. It was a nice fluffy texture without being rubbery. This wasn’t my favorite application with the Just Egg at Disney World (see Whispering Canyon Cafe here). But I also didn’t eat a lot of eggs prior to going vegan. I did really enjoy the tomato and spinach in it though. I wish they had vegan cheese to put in it as well.

The omelet comes with a Beyond Sausage and some potatoes. The sausage was pretty over cooked and dry. I am hoping Disney starts to get the Beyond breakfast sausages to use in these situations because they are a better application than a brat at breakfast. I still enjoy having these with my meal, but I have hopes for changes.

The potatoes were my favorite part of this plate. They may be some of my favorite potatoes I’ve had anywhere. They were the perfect pillowy inside and a crispy and incredibly well seasoned outside. They were similar to a smashed potato without the full smash. I absolutely destroyed those little wonderful potatoes.

The whole meal experience was wonderful. The characters came out one at a time then they did a song with all of them around the restaurant. During our meal they came around at least twice, it was nice to be able to interact with them. Since you don’t actually meet the characters right now, when you finish your meal you receive a card with their signatures on them as a keepsake from the meal.

The meal was good, but not amazing. A lot of what you’re paying for with this is the experience, which is something I’d totally do again.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
