There’s a new vegan option at Universal CityWalk at the Universal Orlando Resort! Hot Dog Hall of Fame has finally gotten rid of their vegetarian hot dog and swapped it to be a vegan one. The Vegan Field Dog is easy to order both in person and with Mobile Ordering on the app.

Hot Dog Hall of Fame is located at Universal CityWalk near Antojitos and Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville. This location is counter service and only offers outdoor seating. They have several hot dogs on the menu, and we were told you can actually substitute the dog/bun on them to enjoy them vegan.

It took about 15 minutes for us to get our dogs after ordering. There were other people who had ordered after us and got their food before us. I believe this is because of the vegan items being made to order and the non-vegan food already being cooked.
The Vegan Field Dog features a Field Roast Frankfurter topped with roasted corn, jalapeno Vegenaise, vegan cheese, ancho chili, and micro cilantro on a hoagie roll and comes with a little wedge of lime.

The roasted corn seemed to be tossed in the jalapeno vegenaise and it was very flavorful. The corn itself was a great flavor, but the vegenaise wasn’t super noticeable. But it did make it a good creamy consistency for the corn. Plus we got a ton of the corn, so it’s a good thing it was actually good! There was no heat to this dog with the jalapeno or ancho chili powder.

The vegan cheese, which we’re pretty sure was Violife Feta, was very good. I wish there was more on there, but it did add more creaminess to the dog.The bun was bit dry, but was less noticeable on this dog than the other one we got.

All of the flavors with this were actually very good. We didn’t have very high expectations, but I know I’ll be eating this again. Plus I love any opportunity to enjoy a Field Roast hot dog!
Since we could swap the bun/dog, we decided to try the Boston Dog too. This one comes topped with relish, spicy brown mustard, and diced onion.

This one was just okay, but the bun was very dry and since there weren’t as many toppings it was noticeable. I would happily try some of their other dogs modified, but the Vegan Field Dog is the winner from these two.
As always, a big shoutout to Universal Orlando Vegans who have a great list of all the vegan options at these parks.
