Savory Impossible Hot Pot and Dessert at the Rose & Crown Dining Room

It’s no secret that one of our favorite spots to go to at Walt Disney World is the Rose & Crown Pub & Dining Room in Epcot. We love the pub for a quick drink and of course the Vegan Fish & Chips to go. But the Dining Room here is also a great location to dine-in since they have several vegan options.

We usually are creatures of habit here and go with the Vegan Fish & Chips, which are not listed on the menu. They also have Vegan Bangers and Mash, and you can swap out chicken for tofu in the Tofu Masala Curry. They added a vegan option to the menu a while back and it has been hard to stray from my favorites to try it, but I finally decided to give the Savory Impossible Hot Pot a try.

This dish is basically a vegan Shepard’s Pie. The top layer is a fluffy mashed potato, and inside you find Impossible meat, carrots, pearl onions, and cauliflower in a gravy.

The dish wasn’t something I would get again as it lacked a lot of flavor. The portion was very large, and I left full, but I didn’t care for it while I was eating it. The mashed potatoes tasted like absolutely nothing, just fluffy starch. They were a good texture, but no taste.

The bites with lots of gravy/sauce were pretty good. There were some chunks of Impossible meat, like they crumbled up a burger. The most noticeable vegetable in it was the pearl onions, those and the carrots were cooked very well. The cauliflower was also cooked well, but there was only one large floret and an itty bitty floret in the whole thing.

When it comes to the options here, I would opt for something different. I love that they have so many options, but I just wish they would note the other three on the menu.

Rose & Crown Dining Room has also removed their vegan dessert they had on the menu. But they do have one if you ask. They are calling this a Vegan Vanilla Cupcake.

I would say it’s more of a shortcake as the frosting I think is just whipped cream. It’s pretty moist and flavorful, but I recommend letting them know you want this when you order your entree otherwise it will be very cold.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
