A Lunch at Tangierine Cafe

This review reflects our experience from September of 2016.

Finding a quick meal in Disney World is pretty easy, but it’s finding a fresh tasting and filling quick meal that can be a little harder. All throughout Walt Disney World there are tons of vegan quick service options, many contain french fries and some sort of vegetable patty. That’s not the case when you’re searching for a quick option in Epcot’s World Showcase. One of our absolute favorite quick service options is at Tangierine Cafe in the Morocco pavilion.

Julie’s Trip Report From October 2016

This week we have a guest post from Julie. She tells us about her recent trip, October 2016, to Disney World full of new foods for her!

A little while ago, I had the privilege of writing a guest post about my trip to Walt Disney World in July that was sadly cut quite short due to a family emergency. Before we even left the resort, however, my mom and I were already talking about reprising our trip as soon as we possibly could. We’d always wanted to go during October for the Food & Wine Festival and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and so we made the reservations immediately. This was, by far, one of my most wonderful trips to the magical place on earth!
The first thing we did upon arriving on day 1 was get some lunch at Columbia Harbour House in Magic Kingdom. I ordered the chili with the oyster crackers on the side for my non-vegan mom as the crackers are not vegan. The chili is good (and oddly enough has olives in it), but if you’re not much of a snacker and wish to stay full, I would get two. They’re a little small for someone like me with a high metabolism who doesn’t snack much.

Julie’s Trip – June 2016

This week reader Julie shares about her recent trip to Walt Disney World, thanks Julie!

Before this trip, I had never been to Disney as a vegan, so I did tons of research before I went to make sure I could get the most out of my trip (and this blog was my best source of information!). We arrived on Sunday, June 10. We were staying at Port Orleans French Quarter (which is awesome, by the way!). Our first park was Magic Kingdom, and we got in and immediately went to Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Café for lunch. If you tell a cast member you’re vegan, they might not know exactly what that means, so it’s best to tell them exactly what you don’t eat. After I explained it to the cast member, he gave me several options. I ended up with a bowl of rice and black beans with roasted zucchini on top. Of course, I went over to the toppings bar and piled it high with tomato salsa, guacamole, hot peppers, and onions. With the extra toppings, it was plenty of delicious food.

Dan’s Memorial Weekend Trip

This week we have a guest post from Dan Bodenstein. Dan Bodenstein lives in South Florida, and has been a vegan since 2009 when he published his second children’s picture book, Steven the Vegan. He frequents the Disney parks annually, and is always on the lookout for interesting vegan options in, and out of the resort area.

It seems like things are always changing at the Walt Disney World resort. Those changes are also reflected in the variety of foods that are offered. This past Memorial Day weekend I travelled to Orlando to meet with my friend and illustrator to work on character development for our next book. We’ve known each other since grade school, and when we get together it’s like we are kids again. What better place to act like a kid than Walt Disney World. We visited two of the Disney parks, as well as Disney Springs on this trip. Thursday night we ventured out to see the new areas recently opened at Disney Springs. Continue reading
