Hollywood Studios might be one of the best spots for vegan quick service options now. All of the quick service locations have a vegan option, and they are all unique and different from each other, aka they’re not all just Beyond products. Woody’s Lunch Box reopened in Toy Story Land and we were able to secure a slot for lunch to give their “new” vegan options a try.
Right now Woody’s Lunch Box is only accepting Mobile Ordering. You will need to plan ahead if you want to dine here as the seating area is limited so they’re not fulfilling a lot of orders at a time like other quick service locations. Because of this, you actually have a high chance of finding somewhere to sit for your meal, but note that many of the tables are bar height, so if you’re with a child this poses a problem.
I mobile ordered our lunch at 11:30am, the soonest pick up time was between 2:00-2:30pm. I was easily able to order the Plant-based Totchos, Toasted “Cheddar” Sandwich, and in the Milk Allergy section of the menu I was able to order a Kids Plant-based Grilled “Cheese” Half Sandwich.
The food took a bit longer to get once I hit “prepare my order” than other places, but I think that was due to the allergy kids option. Once our food was ready I was alerted on the app and allowed into the restaurant area. We then received our food and went to find somewhere to sit. We lucked out that a family was leaving a table and a cast member cleaned it so we could sit down.
The Plant-based Totchos now come with a vegan sour cream! This was a total surprise to us as in the past they didn’t have one.
The Totchos are full of tater tots, vegan chili, shredded vegan cheese, corn chips, and the vegan sour cream. These were the best totchos I have had here in terms of flavor.
The chili is a mix of beans and textured vegetable protein. It has a good flavor and I would be happy with just a bowl of the chili. The whole dish itself was room temperature, but it didn’t take away from the dish.
The sour cream on its own was very tangy and had more of a yogurt like consistency. When it was mixed in with the totchos it was really good. We also managed to have some of the cheese be melty in the dish.
The Toasted “Cheddar” Sandwich is very similar to the previous off-menu vegan grilled cheese you could get. The bread is much better than it was in the past, less hard and more flavorful.
They use Daiya slices for this and our cheese was actually melty! The flavor was a little weird, we couldn’t put our finger on what it tasted like, but as a whole the sandwich was enjoyable. It is still very similar to a grade school cafeteria grilled cheese.
The potato barrels were nice and crispy. They bake them here so no worries about cross contamination or shared fryers.
For kids they have two vegan options but you have to look harder to find the second option. They have an Uncrustables here, which is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. If you look on the Milk Allergy section of the menu you can order a Kids Plant-based Grilled “Cheese” Half Sandwich, which comes with a side of potato barrels and a cutie.
It was so nice to be able to order this grilled cheese straight off the app. In the past we’d have to speak with a coordinator and wait 20+ minutes for a mediocre sandwich. This makes our life so much easier with a vegan child who is allergic to peanuts.
