The Wave’s Cauliflower Tacos and Tikka Masala

In the past we went the The Wave… of American Flavors at Disney’s Contemporary Resort for breakfast. We decided to give lunch a try, which has the same menu as dinner. This restaurant is pretty low key and not highly visited. It sits tucked away on the first floor of this resort, and offers great food in a quiet setting.

You can often find same day reservations, or walk up availability at this restaurant. They are also currently offering the Mobile Wave To-Go option which can be ordered on the My Disney Experience App like with any quick service restaurant.

For the meal here they have a vegan option for each course. The appetizer is the Cauliflower Tacos.

These tacos could easily be an entree on their own. Each taco is full of crispy roasted cauliflower, slaw, salsa verde, and avocado. The tortilla had a nice stretch and bite to it and was great at keeping the taco fillings inside.

Each bite was full of flavor. There wasn’t a single disappointing bite with these tacos. This may be one of my favorite things I’ve eaten at Walt Disney World in a while. I imagine they are very messy to go, but I want to try that next time.

For the entree they have a Tikka Masala which features the same cauliflower, tofu, and jasmine rice.

The flavors were good, it was more sweet than spicy. When we spoke with a chef he had mentioned the sauce having heat, but we didn’t think it really had any. It was a little salty, but it could have just been that day. It did offer a nice flavor with the curry and vegetables.

The tofu wasn’t overly pressed, but it wasn’t too soft either. The portion of this was massive. This was an incredibly filling dish. This was a great entree to split after sharing the tacos.

For dessert they have a Carrot Cake that isn’t labeled as (plant-based) on the menu like the other options. This dessert is not one I’d get again. It comes with a Cashew Cream Cheese Frosting, which is good. The cake itself was fine, but you get such a small amount of it. It was very cold, but it wasn’t dry. The Carrot Cake from Le Cellier is much, much, better.

We thought the fruit compote was a pear compote because it was very mealy and strange. After our meal I saw on the menu that it was a pineapple compote, the sweet tartness of that makes sense. They put entirely too much of that compote on the plate so all you taste is that and not the cake.

Since they don’t have a vegan kids option we spoke with the chef to order. They have a kids pasta they do and they can just omit the cheese they top it with. He also said we could get anything else so Finn picked some tofu, rice, and broccoli. His dish was just that, and he was content with his food. (Quick reminder that our son is only 4).

For dessert for him we were able to get him a vegan ice cream scoop. This came with Mickey sprinkles and he was happy with that.

The meal here was delicious. We will absolutely be eating here again or opting for the to go version to enjoy out on the water. If you haven’t been to The Wave for lunch or dinner I highly recommend it.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
