Now that we’re parents of small humans who eat real food, we’ve been on the hunt for finding good vegan kid options in the parks. Finding kids options on the menu that are vegan can be a bit hard. Especially when your kid has a peanut allergy and the general vegan kids option places is an Uncrustables sandwich. Another issue we’ve run into is that some restaurants are unwilling to swap kids options to be vegan, examples like a kids burger being swapped with a Beyond Burger patty, vegan cheese pizza having to be adult, etc.
One of the reasons we want to get this list out here is for people using the Disney Dining Plan. Since so many kids options aren’t vegan friendly, this is the best way to know what you can get and where with those credits. If you are paying out of pocket you can always get items listed above but not as a kids option like we often do for our son. So let’s get into the best kids quick service options in Disney World as of September 2019!
Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn & Cafe
Veggie Rice Bowl
This is a great option for vegan and vegetarian kids because it comes full of rice, beans, and vegetables. You can load it up at the toppings bar and it is just a smaller version of the adult bowl.
Since Casey’s Corner doesn’t have a kids menu, if you are using the dining plan for a child you can get them this plain Plant-based dog for their meal. Just know that this is not actually a veggie dog, but a Beyond Meat Hot Italian Sausage. So if your child isn’t into food with any spice, I would avoid it. But our 2 year old loves it. [Edit, as of 2020 you can no longer use a kids credit here if you are on the dining plan.]
Rice, Black Beans, & Potatoes (not on menu need to speak with chef)
This option requires speaking with a cast member or chef. It isn’t listed on a menu anywhere but they will count this as a kids meal. They also have Uncrustables here.
Vegan Grilled Cheese Sandwich (must order in person to get vegan cheese)
This is a super easy kids option. The only downside is you have to speak with a cast member and can’t mobile order this to be vegan. All you need to do is say you want a vegan grilled cheese and they know what to do. So easy, in fact, that my non-vegan mother was able to get my son one super easily. The only complaint (with her and us) is that is takes a long time to do this one, 15 minutes or more.
Docking Bay 7
Peka Pasta Rings Youngling Meal
This is a newer kids option at Docking Bay 7. It features a vegan pasta with a “meat” sauce which is made with the Impossible meat they already serve here. It’s a pretty large serving and honestly something an adult can enjoy. They also have another option that can be modified, the Takodana Veggie Dippers, this option is vegan as long as you order it without ranch dip.
Chili-Spiced Crispy Fried Tofu Bowl (black beans and rice, rice and grains, and potato hash bases are all vegan)
This is a super easy kids option to get. The kids bowl is the same as the adult bowl without a sauce. It’s really easy to order either in person or on mobile order too. The chili isn’t very spicy at all in the tofu either.
BYO or Simple Pie
Since Blaze doesn’t have a kids menu, this is another great spot to get a kids QS credit. The Simple Pie is only $8~ and a Build Your Own isn’t much more. If using credits I don’t think it would matter which you get, and paying out of pocket this is a good option for kids to share or have late night leftovers once they go to sleep!
Do you know of another great vegan quick service kids option on a menu? Let us know!
Have you done any of the sides of veggies at places like Columbia Harbor House? We have a toddler who wouldn’t eat enough to get a full rice bowl or beyond brat but we still want to get her something. The sides are never listed with allergens so would we need to speak to the allergy coordinator when ordering to make sure something like green beans aren’t made with butter?
Thank you for sharing these awesome options! Menu hack if your kid isn’t into spice. You can order the tofu plain (coated with cornstarch) at Satu’li Canteen. We have to do this since the chili spice contains sesame and my son is allergic. It takes extra time to prep, but it’s quite delicious. Our whole family orders it this way.
Oh that’s great to know!! Thanks for this!
