Reviews and tips for eating vegan in Walt Disney World. Lists of all vegan options split up by Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Disney Springs, and resorts.
Do you ever find yourself taking a mid day break and aren’t sure of where to eat? We recently found a hidden vegan gem while taking a break from Magic Kingdom in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. Garpirilla Island Grill is located in the main building of the Grand Floridian and just a quick walk from either the boat launch or monorail.
Go Raw barsGaspirilla Island Grill is open 24 hours but only offers fresh made-to-order grilled items from 11am-11:30pm. There are a few vegan items for if you’re on the go including Go Raw bars and pre-made salads. Occasionally you can find vegetable sushi rolls.
Pre-Made SaladThe real winner of this quick service is the ‘Build Your Own Salad.’ Now I’m sure you’re thinking, salad, really? But this salad can be topped with Gardein Chick’n Chunks!
When we ordered we asked about the Gardein Chick’n and the cast member asked how many salads we were having and then left to cook them. After a few minutes she returned with the Gardein Chick’n and began building our salads.
Toppings List Salad ToppingsThere are a ton of great toppings offered here. From chickpeas to kalamata olives to roasted peppers. You just tell the cast member what lettuce and toppings you want and they put it in a giant bowl. The salad is a set price so you can load up on a ton of toppings. Once you have all the veggies you can add dressing, Lite Italian or Oil and Vinegar, and they’ll mix it up and put it in a to-go container. Once we had our salads mixed she cut up the chick’n. We asked about the cutting board being used for normal chicken and were told that all the meat is cooked and cut in a separate part of the kitchen.
Salad ContainerOnce our salads were mixed she threw a lid on and we were off to pay. If you’re enroute to somewhere else this is a great option because you can easily take this with you.
Gardein Chick’n Chunk SaladThe salad was the perfect size. It was very filling, maybe because of all the toppings, and tasted very fresh. The chick’n on it was a nice change to the all vegetable salads we’re used to. This isn’t the cheapest quick service salad, about $12 when we got it. But it was a very healthy, filling and fresh option in the world of french fries and veggie burgers.
Would we go back?
Yes! It was a great option and relatively cheap. We just wish that it wasn’t all the way at the Grand Floridian, but it’s an easy mid day break when spending time at Magic Kingdom.
Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
