Earl of Sandwich Special: Spicy BBQ Vegan Chicken Sandwich

Special is over – only Vegan Cannonballs! Sandwich is available

Back in January Earl of Sandwich at Disney Springs debuted a fully vegan option for the first time, the Vegan Cannonballs! Sandwich. We were fortunate enough to enjoy the meal on Earl of Sandwich for that one. But this month they added a new special with a full vegan sandwich again!

The current special is the Spicy BBQ Vegan Chicken Sandwich. This option is vegan as is and is only offered for a limited time. The sandwich features vegan chicken (seems to also be Gardein like the meatballs) with a bbq sauce, onions, vegan slaw, and vegan pepper jack cheese.

The sandwich was very good and had a great kick to it. I love heat so for me it wasn’t spicy, but I know to others it may be. The chick’n had a good texture and plenty of bbq sauce on it. It was filled with the chick’n strips, so it’s nice to see somewhere not skimp on the vegan proteins!

I didn’t notice the slaw really at all in both taste or texture, but did notice plenty of onions. The cheese was super melty and made the sandwich hold together really well. If this were to stay on the menu I would happily get this again.

The sandwich does not come with a side. If you’d like a side there are options with chips or fruit. If getting chips make sure to check the ingredients, many of the Miss Vickies brand chips they carry have whey in them (WHY).

The Vegan Cannonballs! Sandwich is also still available, though not on the physical menu anywhere. It is posted up in several locations in the restaurant and shows up on the Earl of Sandwich mobile ordering site, but for now it is not on the menu board outside or at the registers. Be like me and have a friend to split the two sandwiches with and enjoy both!

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
