Spice Road Table – Vegetable Platter

If you’ve been following us for a while you probably already know we have a love for the Morocco Pavilion in Epcot because of their great vegan options. But it had been a while since we enjoyed a meal at Spice Road Table and that had to change.

Spice Road Table is located in World Showcase in Epcot along the water. This restaurant has outdoor and indoor seating and has great views for IllumiNations if you plan a later dinner. On the menu here they have several vegan options for appetizers and one vegan entree.

We spoke with our server about being vegan and confirmed that the Mediterranean Vegetable Platter here is vegan as is. We were more curious about their kids menu offerings since nothing looked to be safe but pasta. She went to check with the chef and when she came back she told us the pasta and marinara would not be vegan as there was egg in the pasta. She told us they could make us a plate with hummus and vegetables for our guy.

After a short wait our food arrived. The last time we had the vegetable platter the hummus fries weren’t vegan, but we were so happy when they changed them so we can actually try them!

Hummus Fries and Couscous

The platter comes with hummus fries, couscous, pita bread, babaganoush, and grape leaves. The hummus fries are amazing, they’re like little deep fried cubes of hummus. I expected them to be more falafel-like but they were their own unique delicious. You can also get these are just an appetizer without the aioli. The pita bread (which we always recommend confirming vegan anywhere in this pavilion) was warm and soft.

I’m a huge sucker for babaganoush, and this one doesn’t disappoint. It is super creamy and offers a nice tang. The couscous here is simple but refreshing. The grape leaves, which can be ordered as an appetizer, are great. They are filled with rice and offer a great texture and flavor.

For little dude’s meal he was given a hummus plate with baby carrots and green beans. It was pretty lackluster and being a toddler, he pretty much just dipped the carrots and ate the hummus. The green beans were actually really good though, Corey ended up eating those.

Out of the two Morocco Pavilion restaurants (Restaurant Marrakesh), we definitely prefer Spice Road Table. It’s a little pricier, but it’s a great place to cool down with a drink and a snack.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
