Tofu Masala Curry from Rose & Crown Dining Room

Being able to travel the world in one day is an incredible feature of Epcot’s World Showcase. Each of the 11 countries pavilions are completely immersive with incredible architecture, people from that region, and some of the best foods from their countries.

We recently decided to try Rose and Crown Pub in the United Kingdom Pavilion. This was the first time in almost 10 years I had eaten there, the last time being a fish and chips person. We had seen that they were incredibly accommodating to vegans, so we wanted to give it a try!

We were lucky enough to get in with no reservation for lunch right when they opened. We spoke with our server about being vegan and he said they have a Chicken Masala Curry dish that they can often do with tofu, if they have it. I asked about the mushy peas as well, just to give them a try. He said he would go double check with the chef that they have tofu and about the mushy peas, and if they had it he would just go ahead with out order.

When he returned with our Cider and Black’s, Bridget’s favorite and now my own, he said they had tofu and the mushy peas were vegan so we were good to go. The Cider and Black is a Cider mixed with Black Currant juice, and can also be ordered at just the pub section if you’re not dining in. It’s incredibly refreshing on a hot day.

Tofu Masala Curry

Our food came out and looked and smelled incredible. The tofu wasn’t very firm, but there were three large slabs of it!

The curry itself was very good, it had a strong tomato flavor and was definitely a comfort food. With the tofu was carrot, cauliflower, green beans, and onion. The rice was a little dry, like it may have been sitting for a while, but as a whole this dish was great.

For the little ones we got the mushy peas and a side of chips. The mushy peas were really great. I had never had them before and have really only started to like peas as an adult. They reminded me of the Trader Joes Inner Peas in cooked mashed form.

The chips were awesome. They were large slabs of potato and super crispy. If I could acceptably just eat those for a meal, I would. We didn’t ask, but have been informed by others that the chips are in a designated chip fryer.

Rose and Crown Meal

We really enjoyed our meal here. I had been hesitant in the past given that Florida is very warm so I don’t really want to eat curry, same reason I still haven’t tried the vegan chili from Columbia Harbor House in Magic Kingdom. But I’m really glad we did! We were seated outside under fans, and it was pretty warm that day, but it was still an enjoyable meal. If you time your meal right here, it is a great place to catch IllumiNations after dinner.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!

  1. Just arrived back home from WDW. Ate at Rose and Crown. They now offer vegan bangers and mash and let’s just say- out of this world delicious.

  2. The cider they serve in the pub isn’t vegan nore is any of the other alcohol the sell from what I could find.

    1. On barnivore.com it lists Strongbow as a May Contain but does not actually contain any animal ingredients.

“Strongbow Original looks to be a “may contain” scenario, which most vegans consider to be fine, however the company’s consistently said they don’t consider it to be vegan friendly so we’ve kept it red in accordance with their wishes.”

  3. you’re lucky, when i went during marathon weekend in january they didn’t offer tofu as a protein option

  4. Used to work in the Rose and crown all chips ordered for allergies and dietary preferences are made in a designated chip fryer so only chips are made.
