Sassagoula Burgers and Sundaes – Port Orleans French Quarter

This review reflects an experience from August of 2017.

There are a lot of great resorts to eat at in Walt Disney World. But Port Orleans French Quarter is at the top of our list. The food court here is the Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory. They have an amazing beignet sundae that can be made vegan. Shown here, in to-go form, because we were tired and wanted to eat in our room. You will need to tell the cast member at the counter you want the vegan beignets and vegan ice cream. (Pro tip, stuff a scoop of cold ice cream in a hot beignet. It’s the stuff dreams are made of.)

To go Beignet Sundae

We later saw pictures on the Veg Disney Facebook group saying you could get the Beyond Burger (from Beyond Meat) at the same food court. Needless to say we went there ASAP to try this for ourselves. We didn’t see it on the menu, so my husband, Matt, spoke to Chef Jenn. She was very nice and knew exactly what Matt was talking about when he requested the burger. We were told the burger would take about 15 minutes, so we sat at a table with our 3 month old daughter. About 15 minutes later we got our burgers with fries. They were so good! They came topped with tomato, lettuce, and pickles. The bun was a bit on the dry side. That was the only bad part about the meal.

Beyond Burger and Fries

There is also an option at this food court to make a pizza with Daiya cheese.. We didn’t think of it until after, but they would be able to put that cheese on your burger if you ask for it. We would definitely eat here again. It’s so great to be able to go out and get a burger with fries, then an ice cream sundae for dessert at the same location. The atmosphere is great. Lots of windows, inside or outside seating. We are thrilled to see Walt Disney World with great vegan options. As of now this is the only location with the Beyond Meat burger. Hopefully it will pop up more places soon!

Beyond Burger

There is no parking fee to eat at POFQ. Just tell the guard you’re going to eat at Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory & you’re good to go!

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!

  1. I was very disappointed at this Food Court during my stay in November of 2016. After standing in line about 20 minutes, I was greeted with a blank stare when ordering the veggie burger, told they didn’t have those from a second cast member and after an additional 15 minutes of waiting, I was told I had to “pre-order” this item as a “specialty item”. I ate a lot of hummus for dinner that trip.

  2. Just a note I ate this tonight. Didn’t notice the bun issue. They have added vegan cheese. Took about 10 minutes. I wish you could order it with no sides or add more side options
