Falafel Wraps at Tangierine Cafe

This review reflects our experience from October 2015.

Sometimes when you’re in Disney World you just want a decent quick service option to keep you going. One of our absolute favorite quick service options has always been Tangierine Cafe in the Morocco Pavilion in Epcot. The theming here is absolutely beautiful and the food tastes very fresh. This is a great option to keep you full and give you a real immersive feeling in World Showcase.

Tangierine Cafe offers Moroccan cuisine which includes falafel, tabbouleh, hummus and much more. On the menu there are a few options that can be made vegan. On our last trip we decided to go with the Vegetable Platter and a Falafel Wrap. You can also get the Mediterranean Sliders Combo here with falafel. Previously the lentil salad contained mayo but is now completely vegan! Just a heads up, the falafel and french fries are cooked in a shared fryer.

First, we asked the chef about the pitas when we ordered, as everyone should always do. There have been several times when we have come here and some of the pita breads are vegan and others aren’t. To be safe we suggest you always ask when ordering here, even if it is twice in a week. We were told that all the breads were vegan at the time, we even read the ingredients ourselves to be sure.

This was the first time we ordered the Falafel Wrap. The wrap typically comes with couscous and lentil salad, I decided I wanted french fries instead. When our food first came out I noticed a white sauce on my wrap that clearly wasn’t hummus. I had mentioned to the cast member when ordering that we were vegan but the line cook didn’t notice and had put tzatiki sauce on it. When I mentioned it they quickly made me a new one that did not have any dairy on it. The wrap was delicious, the pita bread was really soft and actually held together while I was eating. The fries were okay, I would probably just get the normal sides next time as they were pretty bland and not very crispy.

Corey got the Vegetable Platter and was envious of my wrap and decided to build his own. The tabbouleh and couscous are the best sides on the plate. The tabbouleh is mostly parsley but is very light and refreshing. You can just order the sides here if you just want a quick snack. The falafel is very crispy and the hummus helps add some much needed wetness to it.

The food here is very reasonably priced and will keep you full for quite a while. If you’re spending the day in Epcot we highly recommend you stop by and try Tangierine Cafe. If you don’t eat food that was in a shared fryer, they will offer you double of whatever side you want, so don’t let that deter you from trying this place!

Would we go back?
We always do! And again, if you go, make sure to ask about the pita!

Tangierine Cafe in the Morocco pavilion in Epcot’s World Showcase cooks their falafel in the same fryer as the chicken as of November 2015. The manager himself told me so. So, when you ask whether the pita bread is vegan (I was told that it was NOT when I was there), make sure you also ask whether your “vegan” falafel was cooked in the same oil as chicken. Gross.

I appreciate your website very much, and it was very helpful during my most recent trip to Disney last November, but this issue with the falafel being cooked with the chicken seems too important to leave out of a review.

    Thanks.

Thank you for your comment, however, we did note in this post that the falafel and French fries are in a shared fryer. We try our best to always note whether or not that is the case. Have a great day!
