Secret Vegan Fish and Chips at Rose & Crown Restaurant

It’s been 6 years, but you can still find this secret vegan option off menu at Rose & Crown Restaurant and Pub in EPCOT. You won’t find them noted on the menu anywhere, not even a ‘vegan version available’ in small text. But you have us to inform you to ask about it and enjoy it on your next trip to Walt Disney World!

Rose & Crown Pub (2020)

The Vegan Fish & Chips can be ordered both in the restaurant for dine in and at the pub bar to go. They do vary with pricing and portion. We usually opt for the pub version, but on a recent visit to EPCOT we decided a sit down meal sounded nice. If you’d like to see a review of the Impossible Hot Pot you can click the text to go there.

The restaurant does not open until 4pm, so if you want to get them from the pub you need to wait until after 4pm so that the kitchen is open. The restaurant version comes with 5 pieces of Gardein Fishless Fillets, a ton of chips, house made vegan tartar sauce, and mushy peas. The pub version is just the 4 of the fillets, the vegan tartar sauce, and chips for about half the cost.

The Fishless Fillets are fried in a shared fryer, so if that is an issue for you then you will need to skip this dish. If it’s not, then it’s a great one to try! The Gardein fish are crispy and delicious. If you’ve not had them before they are similar the vegan chick’n tenders, but on the lighter side. The house made tartar sauce seems to have changed a little since we last had it. It was a bit more of a grainy texture, but the flavor was tangy and it was still creamy.

The mushy peas were some of the best I’ve had here yet. I sometimes find them bland, but these were exceptionally good. Out server joked with us that the vegan version came with the mushy peas because vegetarians want more vegetables, we’re not mad about it! The portion of the entree was very large. Both of us had to tap out with our meal.

Kids Vegan Fish & Chips

Another thing to note is they can do a kids size as well if you have a vegan kid with you. Finn really enjoyed his and was happy to eat it.

Since the kids meal comes with a dessert we tried the vegan dessert option despite being stuffed. The Plant-based Seasonal Gelato was a creamy vegan vanilla gelato on top of fresh berries. It wasn’t the most creative or exciting dessert we’ve had, but it was simple and tasty.

If you’re on the hunt for a quick meal in the evening, or want to do a sit down, you can find the Vegan Fish and Chips here. It has never, and likely will never be listed on the menu. Just ask your server about it and they will know exactly what it is you’re looking for here.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
