Vegan Options at the 2023 Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival

It’s officially spring at Walt Disney World, which means the best Epcot festival is here! The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival runs from March 1st to July 5th, 2023. This year we are seeing some returning favorites and lots of new options as well.

Epcot International Flower and Garden festival 2023

This year the Garden Graze has expanded it’s options, but every single one is still vegan! And when you compete the graze you get a Mango and Lime Dole Whip, which is also vegan, hooray! Make sure to grab a passport so you can get your stamps to earn your reward. Now to this years options. (Click here to go to quick list at bottom)

Avocado Toast with Marinated Toy Box Tomatoes on Toasted Ciabatta (plant-based, Garden Graze item)

This option is returning this year, the booth has a new name but it’s the same spot and the same item. The avocado in this seemed like bagged avocado, which makes sense as they probably need lots of preservatives to keep it green while it sits around all day. The tomatoes were very good and plump on the toast. The ciabatta was very toasted, but not to the point of breaking a tooth. I really liked this option in past years, but this year it didn’t really do it for me.

Grilled Street Corn on the Cob with Savory Garlic Spread and Plant-Based Cotija Cheese (plant-based, Garden Graze item)

This is a returning option that has migrated around several booths over the years. This year it was the most coated I have ever seen it though. The corn is grilled fresh and then dipped in a tub of the vegan garlic spread, it’s then coated in the ‘Cotija cheese’. This is the same “cheese” they put on the tamale for Festival of the Holidays which is more of a cheesy flavored bread crumb. Since it had so much of that on it I didn’t really care for this corn this year. I just really don’t love the texture of the cheese. The flavors were good, but I didn’t like the mealy texture of the cheese.

This one is new but has the same fresh corn and garlic spread. It is then coated in the spicy corn chips which don’t stick as well as the cojita cheese does. I preferred this cob over the other for texture and flavor. It had a low heat to it and a nice crunch with the corn chips. I would get this one again over the other.

Watermelon Salad with Blueberries, Pickled Red Onions, Balsamic and Feta

This option isn’t listed as plant-based, however VeganDisneyFood has checked twice (writing this on March 3rd) and the feta they are using is Follow Your Heart vegan feta. This can obviously change, but if you’re interested in trying this I recommend you ask a chef and see if the cheese is still vegan.

Lotus House – China

Pan-fried Vegetable Dumplings

The dumpling was pretty good but nothing overly exciting. The edges had a nice crisp to them, but the filling lacked flavor. The sauce was pretty tangy, but it was nice with the dumpling. They were fine but nothing I would get again as I can eat dumplings out of my freezer from Trader Joes that have more flavor.

This option is not listed as plant-based on the menu because it is not a booth that is owned by Disney. This means they don’t have to adhere to those requirements, however I asked to see the ingredients and they are safe for us.

Bauernmarkt: Farmers Market – Germany

Potato Pancakes with House-made Apple Sauce (plant-based, gluten/wheat-friendly, Garden Graze item)

Another returning favorite, the potato pancakes! Just like previous years there are two versions of this, a vegan one and a non vegan one, so be sure to order the one with apple sauce. This year mine was a bit mushier inside then I would prefer, however it could have just been first day jitters. I will try it again, but if it’s still as mushy I will be sad. There weren’t very many chunks of potato in it and usually I would find chunks of onion but that didn’t happen this time. This is still a great portion of food though.

Hummus Trio: Traditional Hummus, Red-Beet-and-Black-Garlic Hummus, and Avocado-Herb Hummus, served with Moroccan Bread and Crispy Papadam (plant-based, Garden Graze item)

This is a new option and was one of my favorites of the day. You get two types of bread to enjoy these with. I preferred the soft Moroccan Bread, but I enjoyed the papadam as well. The three hummuses were all unique in their own way, my favorite was the avocado hummus. The avocado hummus had a nice tangy citrus flavor to it which elevated it. The traditional hummus tasted like normal creamy hummus which was enjoyable, and the beet hummus just tasted like garlic. I had anticipated it being more beet flavored but it was pretty low on that. I’ll absolutely get this one again.

Coconut Tres Leches: Vanilla Cake soaked in Oat Milk, Almond Milk and Coconut Milk with Toasted Coconut (plant-based, Garden Graze item)

My favorite dessert returned this year! The Coconut Tres Leches returned and is exactly the same as last year. The cake is moist and has a nice vanilla flavor with the frosting. There was way more toasted coconut on mine this year and I loved the added crunch that it offered. This is one that I highly recommend if you can have it!

Boneless Impossible Korean Short Rib with Cilantro-Lime Rice, Danmuji Slaw and Kimchee Mayonnaise (plant-based, Garden Graze item)

A returning favorite for many, the Korean Short Rib is back this year is in a new easier to enjoy bowl. I promise you the portion is the same as previous years, it’s just a way wider more shallow bowl. I did like this better than I have in the past, however I am not a huge fan of this option. I love the slaw and the kimchee mayo, but the Impossible in this always just reminds me of a meatloaf with some bbq sauce on it. But everyone else seems to love it, so take their word on it.

Impossible Lumpia with Thai Sweet Chili Sauce (plant-based, Garden Graze item)

My favorite option at this booth was this new Lumpia! You get several of them and they are crispy on the ends where the sweet chili sauce doesn’t rest. I have seen others ask for the sauce on the side so they don’t get soggy (which I will try next time), but I didn’t mind the sogginess. The inside was filled with well seasoned Impossible meat. This option was so good and I’ll be back for this several times this season!

Chocolate Cake with Black Currant Ganache, Mixed Berry Compote and Chocolate Ice Cream (Garden Graze item)

We got a new dessert this year here and it’s probably my favorite of the options post avocado mousse era (RIP). The chocolate cake reminded me more of a brownie, but it had a delicious ganache in it. The ice cream melted almost immediately, so if you get this and other foods eat this first. Under the ice cream was mixed berries, ours was 90% strawberries, but we didn’t mind. Overall a great dessert option.

DOLE Whip® (plant-based)

I opted to skip this one this year since it’s the same option as always and I know what a DOLE Whip tastes like. But if you are in the mood for some pineapple soft serve stop by. This is also where you pick up your Garden Graze redemption.

Pineapple Skewer with Tajin Seasoning (plant-based, gluten/wheat-friendly, Garden Graze item)

I usually skip this option but this year I was in the mood for fruit. You get a big chunk of fresh pineapple and it’s got a sprinkling of tajin on it. Mine was super juicy and absolutely delicious. It really hit the spot on a hot day and it was very refreshing. The mix of spicy tajin with the sweet pineapple was very good.

The Land Cart Menu March 1 2023

Cookies ‘n “Cream” Chocolate Mousse Cup (plant-based, Garden Graze item)

This option is always available at Sunshine Seasons inside The Land, however for the festival this year they decided to move it outside as well. I don’t mind not having to make the trek into The Land for this though! The mousse is creamy and very sweet, but it is a must try for chocolate lovers. A tip if you’re gluten free, inside Sunshine Seasons you can get this made gluten free without the cookie bits.

Vegetable Plate: Broccoli, Carrot Sticks and Tomatoes with Dip (plant-based)
Pretzels with Hummus Dip (plant-based)

I didn’t grab these as they’re literally just pre-packaged containers of food. But this is another option for vegans for something quick and is apparently part of the festival. Since this cart is always here you can also get yourself a Mickey Pretzel here and some snacks.

The Citrus Blossom – Odyssey Pavilion

Orange-Lemon Smoothie in a Souvenir Orange Bird Sipper Cup (nonalcoholic)

This option was also confirmed on March 3rd with VeganDisneyFood that the smoothie is vegan. I recommend asking a chef to confirm if you want this cute souvenir but also want to drink what you paid for.

We have so many options this year which is so great. We have a wide variety of options with and without faux meat which I really appreciate as well. I hope you have a trip planned to come try some of these soon!

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
