New! This Shepherd Went Vegan at Raglan Road

There is a new vegan option at Raglan Road at Disney Springs! For years they’ve had vegetarian options that you could modify to be vegan, but never had a vegan as-is option. They still have the Raglan Risotto here that you can modify, but why do that when you can get an option right off the menu!

Raglan Road

Raglan Road is an Irish themed pub located in The Landing at Disney Springs. They offer lunch and dinner, and then brunch on the weekends. They also have live entertainment available at select times and outdoor dining available on the patio (which is often shaded). They are not Disney owned, so they do not have the plant-based logo on their menu.

We started our meal here with the Vegan and Gluten Free Onion Rings. These aren’t vegan on the menu, so you need to speak with your server about getting it vegan/gluten free. They do cook them in the same fryer as the gluten free fish, so if you don’t do shared fryers you’ll need to skip these.

The Onion Rings have greatly improved since our last visit here. The breading was the perfect amount of crispy and fluffy. They are also absolutely massive. They are still very greasy, so have your napkin ready. They don’t come with a dipping sauce, so if you would like ketchup or anything you’ll need to let your server know. But they are perfectly fine without a sauce.

The new vegan option here is the This Shepherd Went Vegan. This shepherds pie is filled with faro barley, carrots, wild mushrooms, green onion, peas, and rutabaga and comes with a burnt onion gravy.

The mashed potatoes were the perfect consistency and had a great crisp to the top. They were some of the best mashed potatoes I’ve had as a vegan. The flavor of the whole shepherds pie together was absolutely delicious. The gravy offers a little sweetness to the dish. This shepherds pie was exceptionally better than the one offered at Rose & Crown.

There is no need for faux meat in here and the vegetables really shine. They were all cooked really well and offered different textures with each bite. I noticed more rutabaga and carrot in the dish than anything else, which I didn’t mind. The wild mushrooms were few and far between, but they were a slightly odd slimy so I didn’t mind those not being heavy in here.

This is something I will absolutely be going back for and craving. They have tons of seating inside, so if you don’t want to sit outside when it’s in the 90’s and 200% humidity eating a shepherds pie, you don’t need to. I definitely recommend giving this meal a try on your next trip!

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!

  1. Not a big mushroom fan (and it seems like a lot of places are making things veg(etari)an by adding mushrooms these days) … are they noticeable?
