PizzeRizzo’s Spicy Italian “Sausage” Sub

When going to the parks lately we’ve been trying to do more quick service dining. Mostly because we want to see how the mobile ordering works for vegan options at each location, but also to not have to have a real plan outside of our Park Pass Reservation. Hollywood Studios currently has several vegan options throughout the park for quick service meals. One that we hadn’t been to in a while is PizzeRizzo, located in Muppet Courtyard.

PizzeRizzo used to be Pizza Planet, but when Toy Story Land was being built they re-imagined this restaurant to feature The Muppets and a very famous rat, Rizzo. The restaurant now features family photos, Muppet art, a banquet hall, and lots of outdoor seating.

When I went here recently I went ahead and mobile ordered, as we are currently encouraged to do. I ran into a slight issue with this as when I selected the Plant-Based option, the Spicy Italian “Sausage” Sub, the side options indicated carrots or Caesar Salad. Prior to closing, they had a vegan salad option that was just undressed and came with vegan ranch on the side. Since this wasn’t an option, I went ahead and selected carrots and figured I’d ask when I got my food.

I marked I was there and to prepare my order when I was close by. I was alerted pretty quick that my food was ready. When I went to get my food I asked the cast member if they still had a vegan salad available, she said they did and was happy to swap my bag of baby carrots for it. She said if I had ordered it as a Caesar I would have gotten the vegan one. Just know that the vegan salad is not pre-mixed, so if you get a pre-mixed salad it is not the vegan one.

The Spicy Italian “Sausage” Sub is a Beyond Sausage in a bun topped with sautéed mushrooms, peppers, onions, with a marinara sauce. I would not call this option spicy at all, I assume they call it that based on the sausage being a Hot Italian from Beyond Meat. I didn’t notice any heat at all while eating this. However, the sausage was cooked well, but didn’t have a crispy edge.

The sautéed vegetables are the same that you get on the veggie pizza (which they have an off menu vegan pizza you can get here). The marinara sauce wasn’t anything exciting, just a simple tomato sauce. I wish this item had some sort of melty vegan cheese on it, it seemed to be missing something.

As a whole, I would rather get the vegan pizza here over this. The sausage sub was fine, but pretty basic.

Vegan Ranch Salad

The salad was interesting. They give you a cup filled with only lettuce, it used to have tomatoes in it too, and then the vegan ranch on the side. It’s nearly impossible to mix this in the cup, but do-able. It was a fine salad, I wish it had something else to it, but I was appreciative of some greens with my sub.

In terms of options at Hollywood Studios, this wasn’t my favorite one. It is a nice option, and they have a ton of space to eat both inside and outside. If you’re in the mood for a Beyond Sausage, this is a good spot to go.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
