Restaurantosaurus Spicy Southwestern Burger

It’s no secret that Disney’s Animal Kingdom has a ton of vegan quick service options. Some are pretty unique like the Crispy Tofu Bowls in Pandora, and others are a bit more standard items that can be found in other parks. The option at this Dinoland USA located restaurant is one of the more standard theme park items.

Restaurantosaurus is a quick service burger restaurant located by DINOSAUR and Dino-Bite Snacks. During lunch it’s a classic quick service, however at night it transforms into a quick service and a newer concept sit down/quick service called Burgers and Sundaes. This option is still a quick service (and a QS credit!), but requires a reservation. We’re here to just talk about the normal lunch you can get.

We knew they had a vegan option on the menu, the Spicy Southwestern Burger, but were curious what kind of kids item we could get here.

We asked to speak with a coordinator when we got to the podium. Quickly Melissa the coordinator came out to speak with us. I mentioned my sons peanut allergy and that we were vegan so I asked if we could get a kids Beyond Burger for our little ones. She said it wouldn’t be an issue and that it may take a little longer. So we ordered two kids burgers and two adult Spicy Southwestern Burgers.

Restaurantosaurus has a great toppings bar. The actual seating area in this restaurant is massive, so they have two full toppings bars, one on each side. There is also seating outside.

About 10 minutes later our food arrived. I expected the kids burgers to just be completely plain, however they came with the toppings for the Spicy Southwestern Burger on the side (without the chipotle mayo). The kids options here come in/with a pail and shovel. They also come with an extra side or dessert. Honestly our toddlers had more food than us, which is kind of hilarious and ridiculous. The buckets were 70% of fries, and some parchment paper at the bottom.

I’m glad we had no hassle getting this, as I know many of our readers are concerned with the changes to the Disney Dining Plan quick service credits. [If you do not know, Disney has changed it so that if a child has a dining plan, they must order off the kids menu at Quick Service locations]

Our Spicy Southwestern Burgers were good. Bridget laughed about the signature unmelted vegan cheese on it, which we’re unfortunately very used to. The burger is topped with Follow Your Heart Pepper Jack cheese, a vegan chipotle mayo, arugula, and tomato.

I ended up adding some jalapeño to my burger, because why not kick it up even more. Otherwise, the toppings bar wasn’t really needed since our burgers came with toppings already.

The burger itself was cooked fine. I would have liked a little more mayo on mine, but otherwise it was good. I would get this burger again, it was better than the Pecos Bill’s one in my opinion. Animal Kingdom has lots of great quick service options for vegans.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
