Sicilian-Style Pizza Slice at Pizzafari

Pizzafari in Disney’s Animal Kingdom finally got an on menu vegan option! Years ago you used to be able to get a vegan pizza here off menu, then they switched the crust to a pita for the pizza and we never went back. But when Disney added a vegan option on October 1st I knew I had to go back and try this.

Pizzafari

Pizzafari is located near Africa and Pandora in Animal Kingdom. It is a quick service location that focuses on, as you can assume, pizza. The new plant-based option here is a Sicilian-Style Pizza Slice which comes with a side salad.

When ordering I asked a coordinator if you can still get a plain vegan pizza here and was told yes. I contemplated one for my son but he said it would be about 15 minutes to make it so I just got him the Sicilian slice too. They did allow me to swap the side salad for him with grapes. If your kid doesn’t have a peanut allergy like mine, the vegan kids option here is an Uncrustrable.

The slice was about the same size of the non vegan pizzas they serve. The dough was thick and soft. The pizza is topped with Beyond Sausage Crumbles, Red and Green Peppers, and Follow Your Heart Parmesan.

My mother, who is not vegan, also got this and enjoyed it. She said that she wished it had melted cheese to help hold the ingredients, and I agree with her too. But flavor-wise, this pizza was great. The sausage was on the spicer side, so if you don’t like heat I would either order it without that or just a plain vegan pizza. But my almost three year old was happily picking off the crumbles to just eat those off his slice.

The pizza, while appearing dry, isn’t at all. The sauce was the perfect amount and they are not stingy when it comes to toppings. The side salad was fine. It was mixed greens, cucumber, tomato, and a balsamic dressing. It was nice to have a side salad that was more than lettuce.

I am pretty happy with this addition and would absolutely eat this again. They had them pre-made and ready to go on the line which was nice and meant I didn’t have to wait 15-20 minutes for my food. They do offer mobile order here as well, as always I highly recommend doing that if you can.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
