Biergarten for Lunch

This review reflects our experience from September 2015.

When traveling through World Showcase in Epcot you may be checking out the many restaurants. One of the most unsuspecting vegan friendly restaurants happens to be Biergarten in the Germany Pavilion. Biergarten Restaurant features an incredible theme that makes you feel like you’re sitting in a biergarten under the German night sky. We recently went for lunch and were told a few updates about the buffet from our previous visit.

When we were seated we told our waiter we’d need to speak with a chef. After a few minutes a chef came out and spoke with us about what our vegan options were. The chef informed us that the rice contains chicken broth, but everything else we had eaten previously was still vegan. He offered to make us vegan rice but we declined.

First on the buffet is the salads. Here you’ll find a plain mixed lettuce salad with various dressings, tomato salad, beets and cabbage. Our favorite item on the entire buffet is the tomato salad. This salad is packed with flavor and features basil and red onion.

After the salads you’ll find some fresh pickles. These are absolutely delicious! Nothing beats a freshly pickled cucumber.

Next you’ll find some pretzel rolls, the chef assured us that these are vegan. They’re pretty tasty so be sure to grab a few!

Moving from the cold items we find the warm foods. The red cabbage is a second best to the tomato salad.

Finally in the hot foods for this visit we had roasted potatoes. These potatoes are pretty much like all other roasted potatoes you’ll find at various buffets in Disney World. Nothing special, but still tasty.

We finally sat down and were able to stuff our faces with a few rounds of the buffet and liters of beer. It seems like this visit we didn’t have as much food offered as the previous visit, but we definitely didn’t leave hungry!

A pro tip if you’re going to do Biergarten and you’re not on the dining plan, do this meal for lunch. The lunch buffet is about $10 cheaper than the dinner buffet and it features the same food. If you want to catch the live music, be sure to dine about an hour after they open.

Would we go back?
Yes! We love the atmosphere and the food is delicious.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!

  1. Has anyone been to Biergarten recently? We are planning to visit in November. It would be awesome if they added vegan sausage to the offerings!!

    1. Hi! It’s on our list to visit soon because we’ve seen people get gardein fishless fillets there as well as a vegan beef stroganoff. We’re hoping they’ll get some sausage but we’ll take the gardein too!
