Black Bean Burger replaces Beyond Burger at Connections Eatery

A few weeks back I went to EPCOT to try the California Burger at Connections Eatery. In my usual late to the game fashion for vegan burgers, after trying an item thats existed for a while they replaced it. I am trying to be better about being there sooner to review things, but in all honesty all the burgers usually take a back burner in my wanting to try things. None the less, I went to try the new Black Bean Burger here as it is a new creative option.

The new burger here is house-made and it is a thick patty. They changed the toppings from the previous burger and this new one now comes with guacamole, a vegan chipotle sauce, lettuce, and tomato. The side options here are fries, Cuties, or a coleslaw.

The patty upon first look looked to be pretty dry, however it was not at all. The patty held together the whole time I ate it and didn’t once crumble, as bean patties often can do. The flavor was really nice and I appreciated how thick they made the patty so it was really a hearty sandwich.

There was a slight kick with the chipotle sauce which I enjoyed. My burger didn’t have very much on it, I wish there had been more of that and less of the guacamole. The flavors of this burger go well together with the black beans and then what feels like Tex-Mex inspired with the guacamole and chipotle sauce. It has a southwestern bowl vibe but on a bun.

I really liked the previous burger here, but I feel like this was a pretty solid swap. Disney seems to be pulling away from the faux meat options, so it’s really refreshing to see an option that still offers a hearty flavorful protein without just using a brand of vegan meat. I will absolutely eat this burger again.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!

  1. Do you know if the black bean burger has quinoa in it? It looks so good and I would love to try it, but am allergic. to quinoa. Thanks!

    1. You will have to ask for the ingredient binder, I would say likely no as I don‘t recall any quinoa bites but you never know.
