New Dog at Casey’s Corner

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, and with that means that delicious food items get replaced. Sometimes the replacement is worthy, other times it is not. The Plant-based Slaw Dog is no longer an option at Casey’s Corner and has been replaced. This Magic Kingdom quick service is a hot spot due to its location on Main Street USA and for serving up quick meals. We’ve been lucky enough to have a vegan option here for a few years and they finally changed it.

The new vegan option is the Plant-based Chicago-Style Dog. Just like the previous “dog” it is actually a Beyond Sausage, and it is still a Beyond Hot Italian Sausage. The new toppings include diced tomatoes and onions, yellow mustard, and Chicago green relish. You can also get a plain version for $2.50 less.

I had gone here with Gina of Gluten Free WDW while filming our Magic Kingdom gluten free and vegan YouTube video. So the dog I got is gluten free as they have Bloomfield Farms buns here which are both gluten free and vegan. I had every intention of coming back another time after trying the gluten free one to get the non gluten free one to post about. However, I hated this dog and will not be going back to get it with the regular potato bun.

The toppings on this really didn’t do it for me. I was immediately brought back to the Hot Dog Salad that used to be in Hollywood Studios (luckily that is gone). They put so much mustard on it that it’s all you can taste, and I love mustard. I have seen from many of our followers on Instagram that they too have had this much mustard, so it wasn’t a fluke. The relish was sweet, which was also off putting. And unlike with the slaw dog with the creamy bbq aioli, you could really taste the spicy sausage which may be off putting for people.

So from now I will be getting it plain and just adding my preferred condiments after. I am sad that this was the replacement as it doesn’t compare to the old option. The gluten free bun was a bit dry, usually Bloomfield is really great, but this was overall a huge miss for me. I also want to note that you can order this without a side and it is $1 cheaper. So if you just want a quick snack this is a good option (but the plain one).

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
