Fairfax Fare receives another menu change

If you recall a few months ago I finally got the courage to try the Chicago Style Hot Dog Salad at Fairfax Fare in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Luckily for me, they changed their menu shortly after and no longer have a hot dog focused menu. The new menu is centered around waffle bowls for some reason.

The option here for vegans is two variations of the same thing. The Plant-based Soba Noodle Salad Bowl and the Plant-based Soba Noodle Salad Bowl with Chik’n. Both options feature chilled soba noodles, shredded carrots, cabbage, edamame, and other veggies in a yakisoba sauce. The one with the vegan chick’n is the same thing but with the protein on it.

I opted to try both variations to see how they compared. The option with the vegan chick’n had way less noodles and only about 3 or 4 tiny slivers of the chick’n. I felt for the added $1 of the chick’n you’re better off just doing the noodle only option.

The flavor was good, but I didn’t like the texture of the noodles the night I ate it. Once you started to chew it it was reminiscent of Playdoh. They seemed to be over cooked, so it may be a hit or miss basis for this option. The veggies had a nice crunch to them and were cut into small pieces. I really don’t get the waffle cone though, it was sweet and didn’t go with the vibe of the savory noodles.

In terms of the price for what you get, it’s a pass for me. The portion was similar to that of a Epcot festival portion but priced as a full meal. It was a snack size and absolutely will not keep you full. I loved the flavor of the dish, so hopefully it just depends on the day for the noodles and they give us a meal size or drop the price to reflect that it’s a snack.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
