Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue

After years of wanting to check out the dinner show at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, we finally went! Hoop-Dee-Doo is a dinner show that is inside of Pioneer Hall at the campgrounds, next to Trail’s End Restaurant. Dinner shows can definitely be a hit or miss situation for special diets, so we went in not expecting too much. We knew they had a special menu with vegan options, but that was all.

Non-Vegan Menu

We went with a large group of friends and only four of us were vegan. After being seated our server came over to ask about drinks. With the ticket price, there is unlimited soda and certain alcoholic beverages. After she had taken our drink orders we mentioned that we were vegan and our sons peanut allergy. She informed us that she would grab a chef for us.

Soon after a chef came out to speak with us and said they had a vegan menu we could order off of. He was out of them at that moment but would bring some over soon. I asked about the salad (as there was already a bucket on the table with cheese on it) and he said he would bring out a vegan one for us. This was all the information he provided. Given that we were at a large table and there were tons of people already seated for the show we didn’t get to ask any other questions.

Alternative Offerings Menu

Our waitress brought out our menu to look over. There were two vegan options, one was just grilled vegetables and the other was pasta with vegetables. We ordered both.

Vegan Salad

Our salad arrived to the table without cheese in a much smaller bucket than the other salad. The chef said the dressing was an Italian dressing. The salad was fine, nothing great. Just a basic mixed green salad with tomatoes and cucumber.

While we were eating our salad everyone else’s food began to arrive. The rest of the table was served corn bread, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, beans, corn, a giant bucket of fried chicken, and another giant bucket of bbq ribs. Since the chef was in a hurry earlier, we were never able to confirm if the corn or beans were vegan, but I think it’s safe to assume the corn had butter and the beans were not vegetarian. Some of the items everyone was given were not on the menu they had provided earlier.

Grilled Marinated Vegetables
House Pasta Primavera

Relatively quickly our food arrived to the table as well. Since we had just ordered the only vegan options, they ended up bringing us three plates of the grilled vegetables and two of the pastas for the four of us.

Grilled Marinated Vegetables

The vegetables were very good, they are the same grilled vegetables that are offered at Trails End Restaurant, but without the tofu. On the plate was a portobello mushroom, spinach, tomato, zucchini, and yellow squash. They were smoky and have a sweet and sour style sauce on them too. While these are very tasty, this is not a meal. If it had the tofu on it like at Trails End I think I would have been happier with this plate.

House Pasta Primavera

The pasta was nothing exciting. Just wagon wheels with a red sauce and some vegetables thrown in. It had grape tomatoes, spinach, zucchini, and yellow squash (the same vegetables as the plate). If I were to just get one option from the menu it would be this one, but since it’s an all-you-care-to-enjoy style meal, just order both.

Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue

During the meal was majority of the show. The performers were fun and the show was entertaining. The jokes were corny but cute and the songs were all great.

Dessert started with everyone else having their signature Strawberry Short Cake, so we were hoping we’d get something. Immediately following dropping of the non-vegan dessert our server brought us all our own scoops of vanilla Tofutti with Enjoy Life cookies. Not a super exciting dessert, but I do love some vanilla Tofutti!

Vegan Ice Cream with Enjoy Life Cookies

The show itself is worth going to see. The food is mediocre at best. I’m thankful they actually have vegan options ready to go, I just wish it was more worth the price after seeing how much food everyone else was getting compared to us. Also knowing what options are available at Trails End Restaurant, I would hope they can change this menu to be more filling for vegans. I don’t see us heading back here anytime soon.

  1. We had the same entree at Trail’s End likely around the same time. Also no tofu. You should get tested for Hep A – they recently had an article in Sentinel about this issue at Hoop Dee Doo. 🙁

    1. Yes I saw that too! They didn’t release dates regarding the risk (like they did with Morimoto) which is more concerning. 😅

  2. I was just camping at fort wilderness and had the veggie burger at PJs there. I wonder if you asked, could they bring one of those burgers over to the hoop Dee dok for you? I’m going with my family again in Sept and they want to do the hoop Dee Doo but I’m not sure it’s worth it for me
