Friar’s Nook NEW Vegan Brat

When Disney started carrying the Beyond Burger last year we knew that us vegans were in for a treat. Finding Beyond Burgers all over property has been great, and is getting easier and easier. (You can find a full list of who carries them on our FAQ page.) When Beyond Meat released the Beyond Sausage, we had hopes that it would eventually make it’s way to Disney World. And I am so excited to finally say, IT HAS!

Friar’s Nook

Friar’s Nook is located in Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland, across from the Seven Dwarves Mine Train. I had never eaten here before, as it literally just has brats and tater tots. But now they have a Vegan Brat, which is currently off the menu, but hopefully will be on it soon.

Friar’s Nook Menu (7/25/18)

I asked the cast member when ordering if they had a vegan brat, she happily said yes! I asked to see the allergy binder to confirm that it was the Beyond Sausage. I was happy to see it is, it appears to be boiled in beer, and the bun is vegan too! I immediately ordered our Vegan Brats and Tots and was informed it would be a few minutes because they are made to order. I didn’t confirm about the cooking process, so if you are concerned with a shared fryer be sure to ask, and please let us know so we can update.

Vegan Brat and Tots

When the brat came out I was blown away. It’s not one sausage, but two! It had a really small amount of sauerkraut (I mean come on!) hiding where the sausages meet. This whole thing was only $10 too, which is an amazing price for so much food.

Vegan Brat and Tots

I’ll admit, when I first saw the brats I didn’t think they looked too appealing. I think the look comes from being cooked in beer, which is cool with me because it still tastes great. The bun was pretty dense, but I appreciate the fact that it was a pretzel bun. It was ripped down the bottom, which is the worst. I ended up putting some spicy mustard on my brat.

Vegan Brat

This is the most realistic vegan sausage on the market, it is moist and has an incredible texture. I loved brats back in the day, so this is definitely up my ally.

Vegan Brat and Tots

The tots that came with it were okay. I only ate one as my little dude ate all the others. They reminded me of hash browns in tater tot form, they were almost chunky and were very crispy.

Now RUN don’t walk to Friar’s Nook and get yourself a Vegan Brat!

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!

  1. I had this last night. Good news/bad news; the good news is that the “plant based” sausages are on the menu (in teeny tiny print, under the regular brat & tots option) and the sausages themselves are great. However, I was served 1 1/2 brats (not two; it filled the pretzel bun but did not stick out the ends). Also, there was no sauerkraut – so literally a dry brat on a dry pretzel bun. And then about half a “boat” of tots. I souped it up with some mustard and relish – and ketchup for the tots – and it was okay, but it seemed a little steep at $10. I have photos if you’d like.
