‘Ohana Dinner Guest Post

This review reflects an experience from April 2016.

This week we have a guest post from Erin about her dinner experience at ‘Ohana. ‘Ohana is located at Disney’s Polynesian Resort and features a family style meal. Here’s Erin’s review:

Back in April of this year I enjoyed a fully vegan dinner at the ‘Ohana family style dinner. I understand that a lot of vegans tend to avoid this because of the huge meat focused menu but, I have to say this is a must hit for vegans visiting the parks . The chef was very helpful in explaining what on the menu was vegan and could be modified for me.

He started off with bringing me some appetizers which were an eggplant hummus and chickpea hummus with house made pita chips. The next item was a version of the bread they typically serve, but made vegan and it was so good.

Next was stir fry noodles which is on the regular menu. They are full of flavor and one of the best things I have ever eaten and it was full of veggies . The next item was a tofu veggie stir fry in a vegetable broth. It was not my favorite as I’m not a broth kind of person, but my family, who is not vegan, loved it .

The last thing the chef brought out was vegan ice cream and Enjoy Life snickerdoodle cookies which were very good . Overall, I was stuffed and ended up getting second servings of everything because me and my family loved it better than the other food available ,it was so filling and delicious.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!

  1. Was this given as a family style buffet? So i can get multiple plates of those noodles? (they look delicious)

  2. N.B. I am Erin’s father. My daughter understated one fact in her review and that was the suprisingly high level of attentiveness we received from the chef and waitstaff . The chef stopped by many times to check up on us! And it just wasn’t only at this meal but at all the table service meals we had on property. As an omnivore, I can attest that all the vegan options were quite tasty except for the ice cream (weird aftertaste) .
