Vegan options at the Disney Junior Play ‘n Dine Breakfast at Hollywood & Vine

When choosing between character meals at Walt Disney World there are many factors to consider. The highest for us being somewhere with actual options for us. But then after that is what are the characters and the location. I finally went to Hollywood and Vine at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for my very first time. We went to try the Disney Junior Play ‘n Dine Breakfast to scope out all the vegan options.

This character meal will include characters like Fancy Nancy, Vamparina, Doc McStuffins, and Goofy. During your meal they will wander around and greet the tables for autographs and photos. There is also a quick dance party during the meal. We dined toward the end of breakfast time and by the time we left the characters had come around to us several times as the restaurant was pretty much empty.

When we were seated we spoke to our server about being vegan. He mentioned that everything will be labeled, but we also asked to see the allergy sheet to double check in case anything wasn’t labeled on the buffet but listed as seemingly safe on the allergy sheet. We were able to confirm a few unmarked options with chefs as well.

We ordered Iced Coffee for our beverage for this breakfast and soy milk to go with it. They also have plenty of juices or soda.

On the buffet you will find breads, bagels, a mashed avocado, capers, and onions for those, and fresh fruit. Over in that area you can also find oatmeal with brown sugar and raisins.

Continuing down the line you will find the Plant-based Frittata with Tomato Jam. These are cute little bite sized vegan egg frittatas. I didn’t care for the flavor of it with the tomato jam, as I found that too sweet, but without the jam I enjoyed it. The frittatas themselves tasted the same as the ones you can get at the value and moderate resorts.

While walking by the omelet station I noticed that there was a mention of “Plant-based Eggs”. We asked the chef and she was able to whip out the jug of JUST Egg for us and a clean skillet and spatula for our scramble. We needed to season it when we got it to the table, but overall this was an enjoyable little plate of vegan eggs and it reminded me of my morning vegan omelets on Disney Cruise Line.

In the kids part of the buffet they had potato barrels which had the logo for being plant based covered up. We checked with the chef and confirmed they were in fact vegan. These were super crispy and delicious. I apparently neglected to get a photo, but you can see them on my plate below.

They did also have allergy waffles upon request, however, you need to order those with your server and not the chefs at the line. We didn’t get any for this visit, but they did have a strawberry sauce you could put on them which would have been very good!

On the dessert bar there was a a vegan Apple Crisp which was warm and very much the same as the dessert next door at 50’s Prime Time. I am so happy we have a vegan dessert on the buffet though, and honestly that is always one of my favorite desserts on property. They also had chopped berries available too.

Next to the dessert bar they had cereal and they have Fruit Loops listed as plant based, however, Fruit Loops are not vegan. So while they fall under the umbrella of what Disney denotes as plant based, they are not fully vegan. They contain Vitamin D3 which is not vegan and is animal derived.

This was a really great and incredibly easy vegan buffet experience. I definitely recommend this if a breakfast at Hollywood Studios is on your list or if you have little ones who are still Disney Junior age. Or be like Suzannah from VeganDisneyFood and I and just be two adults enjoying breakfast with Fancy Nancy, it’s Disney World, no one will care either way!

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
