What is happening at Sunshine Seasons?

Sunshine Seasons is a quick service restaurant in EPCOT located inside The Land Pavilion, where Soarin’ and Living with the Land can be found. For years this quick service was a really great option as it is cafeteria style with multiple stations to accomodate just about everyone. Throughout the years they have always had a vegan option at one of the stations as well as a few vegan pre-made options in the grab and go fridges. However, since 2020 this location seems to have drastically gone downhill. Between the hours of operation for fresh food (they only serve for lunch), and the options on the menu.

I recently went when I saw they had removed the plant based options off the online menu. I wanted to investigate and see if that was truly the case or if it was replaced with something else that wasn’t put online just yet. When I arrived I struggled to find anything in terms of an entree. I ended up asking a chef if they still had anything and was told they still had the Mediterranean Vegetable Wrap and was told it was in a grab and go case. I had looked in the wrong one and missed this when I was searching. The chef retrieved it for me and when he returned I asked if we were going to be getting another vegan option or if our only options were to be pre-made. I was told that the likelyhood of getting a new option wouldn’t happen before 2026. Needless to say I was pretty annoyed that our only options here are pre-made and may or may not have been sitting in a cold fridge for up to 2 days.

Anyway, I got the Mediterranean Vegetable Wrap and also the Plant-based Chocolate Mousse Cup. I did also find a Hummus Platter and a Uncrustable Snack Pack as other options. But that was it outside of fruit or vegetable sides.

The Mediterranean Vegetable Wrap was okay. It was honestly about as good as I expected it to be based on the situation. The wrap had tomato, lettuce, cucumber, pickled vegetables, roasted red pepper hummus, and a chipotle cream. I was excited about the prospect of the chipotle cream so that we had something other than just hummus in it.

Fortunately my wrap had been made that day so it wasn’t soggy yet. I really liked the pickled vegetables, they reminded me of the sandwich that is at the BoardWalk Deli. The amount of ice cold tomato really killed it for me though. I also barely had any hummus and didn’t find the chipotle cream until several bites in on each side.

While this isn’t something I would run back to get, it wasn’t terrible. It was a good option for a hot theme park day and when you’re desperately craving something light and actual vegetables. I HIGHLY recommend looking at the label to see when it was packaged to try and get the freshest wrap.

I am glad that our dessert is still here. The Plant-based Chocolate Mousse Cup is one of the best desserts you can get at Walt Disney World. It comes in a cup that is easy to throw in your bag to enjoy at your room later if you’re on your way out. It features layers of fluffy vegan mousse and crushed up Oreo cookies. If you are a fan of chocolate you are required to try this next time. Also a tip for my gluten free friends, if you ask you can get it without the cookies to enjoy.

I did let the chef know my disappointment with the fresh options we had being gone. I highly recommend doing so yourself if you’d like to see change. I did mention my love for the Tamarind Vegan Beef from like 10 years ago, so maybe that will make its way back home to Sunshine Seasons. Until then, this isn’t a spot I’d recommend for anything other than dessert.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
