Dining with the Evil Queen? Sign me up! You can enjoy a character dinner over at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge at Artist Point. This meal is only offered at dinner and can be found under Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White.

This meal is served family style for the appetizer and dessert, however, you get to pick your own entree during the meal. This dinner is a prix fixe price which at the time of my dinner was $65 per adult and is $39 per child. I went with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday so this is a review of just the adult option.

The vegan appetizer was completely unique other than a modified Wild Mushroom Bisque, as in we get a Mushroom Consommé. We also got a tiny little Beyond Meatball, and Cucumber Salad.

The cucumber salad was very good. It was a nice light start to the meal and was seasoned with herbs and a possible vinegar. The little Beyond Meatball just tasted like Beyond and not much else. My vegetarian friend and I did end up asking for more of the meatballs and the cucumber salad though and we were able to get more to eat.

The Mushroom Consommé was not anything I enjoyed. To me it just tasted like mushroom water. However, my friends seemed to like it more than me as I let them all try it when I decided I hated it.
For the entree I picked the only vegan one, Sorceress Spell of “Tricken” Chicken. I had incredibly low expectations of this dish and I was blown away by it. Typically Disney does a terrible job of cooking the Gardein chick’n fillets, but these were cooked perfectly. And I got two of them! Finally an entree with some protein AND cauliflower. The chick’n had a nice crispy edge to it and was the correct texture inside and not just mush.

The dish also came with a cauliflower puree, roasted vegetables, and a vegetable jus. The veggies on the plate were cooked well with a nice al dente bite to them. Everything was seasoned appropriately and it was a lot more food than I had imagined it would be.

For dessert mine was completely modified from the non-vegan one. I was given a delicious little coconut pineapple chia pudding, the inside of the Gooseberry pie in a cup, and a little chocolate ball. After this I was also given a plate of vegan cookies, which I believe were the new Home Free brand ones Disney is using but I neglected to take a photo of these.

The dessert overall was underwhelming, but the chia pudding was something I’d eat a large bowl of. The Gooseberry pie filling was warmed and enjoyable, but would have been better had it been in a tart like the non-vegan one. The chocolate ball was like a mix of a brownie and a cookie. It was soft, but it needed something to elevate it.

Overall I was really pleased with this meal, like I said with the entree I had low expectations and I left full to the brim. Ordering it to be vegan was super easy, they had no problem giving me my own little plate. I do wish the vegan versions had the same fairytale flare that the non-vegan dishes did, but when it came to what I ate I was very happy.

During the meal you get to meet Grumpy, Dopey, and Snow White, and then when you’re done eating you get a special photo opportunity with the Evil Queen. It was a very cute experience and I would absolutely do it again.
