‘Ohana Breakfast with Stitch

This review reflects our experience from September of 2016.

‘Ohana has been on our list of places to dine for a while. We finally got a reservation for it on our last trip and we opted for breakfast. ‘Ohana is located at Disney’s Polynesian Resort and features a character breakfast with Lilo and Stitch. This restaurant is treated much like a character buffet, but with family style dining instead.

When we arrived we noted to our host that we’d need to speak with a chef. Typically they just bring out plates of generic breakfast foods, sausage, eggs, biscuits, etc. So we really needed to make our server know we weren’t getting that ASAP. When we sat down we spoke with our server and told her we were vegan and needed to speak with the chef. She brought out soy milk for our coffee and grabbed the chef for us. The chef came out pretty quickly and told us he’d make us some vegan Mickey waffles and a tofu scramble.

Our food took a while, but we expected that as everyone else gets the same food and ours was made to order. Our meal started with a fruit plate and ‘Stitch juice’. The fruit plate was pretty sad and we didn’t really care for it, the juice was the same as the jungle juice they have at other breakfast buffets, which is way too sweet for us.

The chef brought out our vegan waffles and even found some Earth Balance vegan butter and real maple syrup for us to have with them. He told us if we wanted more waffles to let him know and he would get them started.

With the waffles he also brought out what he called a tofu scramble. To us it was more of a stir fry, as he used the sweet sauce that they use at dinner. It reminded me of the “scramble” I got from Kona Cafe a few years ago.

The scramble only had a few pieces of tofu, but was loaded up with veggies. There was tons of broccoli, peppers, onion, potatoes and more. There was a sweet sauce all over it, which made it less breakfast-like. As a whole it was pretty good, but nothing to really be excited about.

Our waffles were much better than the waffles we had had at Cape May during the same trip. These tasted like normal waffles and were incredibly delicious. Since I was about 6 months pregnant during this time, I ordered waffles two more times during our breakfast.

During our meal we met all of the characters. Stitch has his own photographer and that photo makes its way into your Disney Photo Pass. They move pretty quickly, so if you’re looking for a quicker breakfast with characters, I’d recommend this one.

Would we go back?
Probably not, the food was okay, but the price was pretty high for what we got. The characters were nice and our service was great though.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
