Vegan Omelettes at Fresh Mediterranean Market

This review reflects our experience from January 2016.

If you’ve been reading our blog for a while, then you know that finding a unique, not Mickey Waffle, breakfast in Disney World can be a bit of a challenge. I often search the Disney menus to see if any breakfast options come up that look to be vegan. One restaurant that stuck out was the Fresh Mediterranean Market at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel. Not only did this menu show various cereals and oatmeal options for us, but we had heard the chef was very accommodating, so we recently stopped by for breakfast.

Fresh Mediterranean Market is located in the Disney Dolphin hotel which is located between Epcot’s World Showcase and Hollywood Studios. This is a short walk from the BoardWalk Resort and Yacht and Beach Club. If you’re traveling from another resort you can easily take the boat from Hollywood Studios. Fresh Mediterranean Market offers both a menu and a full buffet. Since both the Disney Dolphin and Swan are not Disney owned, they do not accept the Disney Dining Plan.

When we arrived we spoke with our server to let him know that we’re vegan. He informed us that he would grab the chef to speak with us. A few minutes later Chef George came out to talk to us. He suggested his Vegan Omelette which is made from chickpea flour and veggies. We immediately said yes to this option and asked for some potatoes as well. We asked our server for some soy milk for our coffee, at the time they were out of soy but had rice milk available too.

Our omelette arrived and were really excited to try it. We’ve made vegan omelettes at home before using tofu, but not flour. The omelette was full of carrot, broccoli, peas and green onion. The texture wasn’t too bad, we referenced it to a veggie pancake more than an omelette.

The flavor of the omelette was very turmeric heavy. Chef George mentioned that he had put nutritional yeast in it too, but we didn’t really taste it. As a whole we both really enjoyed the omelette.

The breakfast potatoes were a bit too oily for our liking. But they were a crispy texture and covered in delicious onions. If you’re not a huge fan of a bunch of oil, I’d suggest asking for it to be lightly oiled or have fruit instead.

We both really enjoyed this breakfast and it was very easy to obtain. Since our visit in January the Vegan Omelette has officially made it onto the menu at Fresh Mediterranean Market! If you’re starting your day at either Hollywood Studios or Epcot, this is a great pit stop before the day in the park. Plus the boat ride between Hollywood Studios and Epcot’s World Showcase is a nice change from the buses.

Would we go back?
Yes! It was a unique breakfast that was full of nutrients we often miss while in Disney World.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!

  1. We Just got home for an amazing Walt Disney World vacation. I used your site daily. Thanks! We stayed at the Swan and did enjoy breakfast at Fresh Mediterranean Market at the Dolphin. The omelette was the best breakfast we had on our trip. It was wonderful, they may have changed the recipe a little. There was no turmeric that we could taste. As a matter of fact we enjoyed breakfast here so much when went twice. Thanks for the help.
