Vegan Beignets from Port Orleans French Quarter

This review reflects our experience from September of 2015.

One of the foods that you associate with New Orlean’s is typically beignets. As you may expect, Port Orleans French Quarter in Walt Disney World offers beignets all day at Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory. Many people don’t know, but if you ask a chef, they can make you vegan beignets! When we found that out we knew we’d have to give them a try.

We recently stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter and made sure we got to try these doughy treats. We stopped by Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory during an off time to ensure that we could speak with a chef about these vegan snacks. A chef came out and he told us he could make them vegan for us and that it would be about a 5 minute wait. He handed us our ticket, he even noted vegan, and we paid and waited for our treats. While we were waiting, another woman was waiting for her gluten free beignets, beignets for everyone!

After a quick 5 minute wait our beignets were ready to eat! We had never had beignets before so we really didn’t know what to compare them with. Beignets are essentially fried dough covered in powdered sugar.

They were a pretty good size, about 3 inches, we felt this was a great snack for the price. The beignets were still very warm when we got back to our room. They were pretty chewy and had a cinnamon flavor. They weren’t very sweet, even with all that sugar.

Would we go back?
Yes, they were pretty tasty. It’s a quick boat ride from Disney Springs to enjoy these.

Have you made the trip over to Port Orleans French Quarter for these?

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
