Another new item at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Head over to Africa and stop at Kusafiri for lunch. This is just a hole in the wall, literally, so you will need to head to Tamu Tamu or Harambe Market to actually sit to eat (yes Harambe Market seating is currently open).

We’ve seen our fair share of vegan options at Kusafiri over the years, so I am happy to see another option for lunch being offered here. We now can enjoy the Plant-based Picadillo Bowl here which features Impossible Beef Picadillo, Jollof Rice, Kuchambari Tomato Salad and a Plant-based Aioli.

This is very similar to the previous Impossible Gatsby but with rice and and no dry pita bread. The rice is well seasoned and they give a very generous portion of it. The Impossible Picadillo is also very generous and has large chunks of the beef with plenty of crumbles. There are also raisons, chickpeas, and peppers throughout.

The kuchambari adds a nice freshness to the bowl. I believe the cucumbers were marinated as well, all of this adding a nice additional texture to the dish. The aioli was hot when I tried it, and it didn’t taste like much. I am not sure what it’s supposed to add to the dish, but it wasn’t very noticeable to me. Once you mixed up the bowl all you really tasted was the rice and the picadillo.

This is a great new lunch option and I would happily eat this one again. It’s a nice way to enjoy Impossible Meat without it just being a burger, which I really appreciate.
