Breakfast with the Princesses at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall

Have you been wondering what it’s like to dine with royalty in EPCOT? Well I have the scoop for you! We recently enjoyed breakfast in Norway at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. This character meal features a family style spread for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I was eager to try their breakfast menu, so let’s not keep you waiting!

The breakfast here comes in two parts, your pastries and fruit to start then the main course. When we first spoke with our server we let her know we’d be doing the Princess Storybook Plant-based Dining. She let us know what to expect and then quickly returned with our first course.

Menu items for Princess Storybook Plant-based Dining, including mixed fruit, Nordic Berry Compote, Plant-based Applecake, Plant-based Waffles, Plant-based Egg Scramble, Home Fry Potatoes, and Plant-based Sausage.

First up we were given gluten free and vegan rolls with plant-based butter and Nordic Berry Compote. In addition to that we were given Plant-based Applecake and a fruit bowl.

A plate with two applecakes topped with crumble, two gluten-free rolls, a small dish of plant-based butter, berry compote, and a bowl of fresh mixed fruit including strawberries, blueberries, and melon.

The Applecake was my favorite thing in the whole meal and I ate it in its entirety throughout our visit. The cake was moist and reminded me of a coffee cake with a hint of apple flavor. I really loved this and wish I could get it at Kringla all the time.

The gluten free rolls were our standard Bloomfield Farms rolls and they were very good with the butter and the compote. The compote was not overly sweet and definitely tasted like a blend of berries. Our fruit bowl offered plenty of fresh fruit to enjoy.

The main platter here features Plant-based Waffles, Home Fry Potatoes, Plant-based Egg Scramble, and Plant-based Sausage. They definitely want you to know it’s plant-based with these names!

They gave us a ton of the vegan egg scramble, there were only two of us and there is no way we would have eaten all of that. The sausage seemed to be the Impossible sausage patties, which I appreciate over a Beyond bratwurst like other locations. They were a bit underwhelming and seemed to be microwaved. I wish they put a bit more care into the cook of those.

The potatoes were well done seasoned with rosemary and salt. I really liked the potatoes with the vegan egg. If I were going to asks for extras of anything, it would have been these. But there was so much food we couldn’t ask for more.

The waffles here are heart shaped which is super fun and a nice change from the classic Mickey waffle. I really liked that they were thinner than the average Mickey waffle.

We absolutely loved this meal. If you’re going to be dining with the princesses I can’t recommend this one enough. Additionally, if you’re on the Disney Dining Plan breakfast only uses one dining credit and lunch and dinner use two. So plan accordingly. I do think after this experience I will have to go for lunch now since breakfast was so good.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
