It appears that Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe in Magic Kingdom quietly changed the Impossible Patty Melt and we didn’t notice until ordering it and wondering where the slaw went! This quick service restaurant is located in Tomorrowland and offers an easy mobile ordered meal.
The new Impossible Patty Melt is very similar to the previous one. The new one comes on Texas Toast, Vegan Cheddar Cheese, Astroid Sauce, and Grilled Onions. Previously it had a slaw rather than onions and a white cheese instead of cheddar.
The melt we got recently was actually a melt! The cheese was super melty and gooey. There wasn’t a ton of astroid sauce (it’s a mayo mixed with something) and it had a lot of the sweet grilled onions on it.
I actually preferred the old version as I liked the texture of the slaw on the burger. But I did like the cheddar more on this one. Our bread wasn’t soggy at all either, which was an improvement from the previous version. The onions were very sweet with each bite, which I didn’t love. If I got it again I would probably request it without onions personally.
So if you’re looking for a quick meal with a protein in Magic Kingdom this is an easy option. You have the choice of fries or Cuties (oranges) as a side as well.
