Another one bites the dust at Columbia Harbour House

One of the Magic Kingdom quick service restaurants has seen yet another change. Our last menu option here lasted about a year before being replaced, and I am pretty bummed about it as it was one of the better options this location has had in recent years.

Columbia Harbour House is located in Liberty Square near the Haunted Mansion. This quick service restaurant has all indoor seating with options both upstairs and down. During my recent visit I made the mistake of eating around peak theme park lunch time (1pm) and had to circle the restaurant twice in order to secure a table.

The new option here is the Hearts of Palm and Artichoke Roll. This has completely replaced the Plant-based Crispy Mushroom Roll, despite that still showing on the website. This new option is very similar to the vegan lobster roll offered at Rosie’s All-American Cafe in Hollywood Studios.

I had pretty high hopes for this one as the one at Rosie’s is one of my favorites. However this option let me down due to it being impossible to eat as a handheld sandwich and lack of the sandwich filling. The flavors were enjoyable with a bit of a tang, saltiness and the similar old bay taste as Rosie’s. The biggest difference I noticed between the two sandwiches was this one lacked the extra filling the other has (apples, celery) and it not being very chopped up.

This sandwich was simply just artichokes and hearts of palm in a dressing piled on top of bread with tomatoes and lettuce. Now as I said, I did like the way it tasted, but I felt that it was impossible to eat as a sandwich, and even as a fork and knifer it was mostly bread and lacked the salad to fill it out. It was extremely messy like the other sandwich, but there they have chips to scoop up all that falls out and here it wasn’t much to scoop and didn’t hit the same with fries.

Between the stress of finding a table then having a sandwich that got all over me and my plate, I was just very over it. I ended up just eating the small amount of filling in here and let my son eat all the fries. This is definitely not one I will be getting again as I much prefer the experience and sandwich as a whole at Rosie’s. Please, we beg you, bring back the Lighthouse Sandwich.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
