Epic Eats! Cafe L’air De La Sirene

It’s time to start exploring what Universal Epic Universe has in store for us as vegans. We had the opportunity to visit this brand new Universal Orlando Resort park before it opens on May 22nd during the previews. During our visits we were able to try several of the vegan options and figured I’d share some reviews of what we had with you.

In the brand new Wizarding World of Harry Potter – The Ministry of Magic you can find Cafe L’air De La Sirene. This restaurant offers ample indoor seating and also some very cute outdoor seating for those wanting to truly feel like they are in Paris. On the menu here we have three options to enjoy.

First up is the Vegan Croissant. This croissant is unlike the ones you can find at Islands of Adventure or Universal Studios. It is much lighter, flakier, and all around better. It has a nice buttery flavor to it and a perfect bite. I would happily enjoy just this and a frozen butterbeer as a snack.

For actual entrees we have the Baguette Ratatouille Provençale and the Cassoulet Végétalien aux Haricots Blancs. Out of the two, the Baguette Ratatouille Provençale was our favorite.

The Baguette Ratatouille Provençale is a baguette style sandwich filled with roasted tomatoes, zucchini, squash, eggplant, pickled red onion, and arugula, then topped with a basil pistou. The flavors were so good together and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. The baguette was soft and easy to bite through, and the sandwich itself was huge. It came with very tasty fries as well.

The Cassoulet Végétalien aux Haricots Blancs is a stew with cannellini beans, vegan sausage, vegan bacon, trumpet mushrooms, carrots, and tomatoes topped with baguette croutons. The flavor of this was really nice, the vegan bacon was actually just tempeh. The sausage seemed to be Beyond Meat, which is a first for me to see those sausages used in Universal parks. I didn’t care for the texture of the trumpet mushrooms so that turned me off to this. If we eat here again I would get the sandwich. But if you don’t mind the texture of trumpet mushrooms then I recommend trying this.

As for drinks we opted for the Non-dairy Bièraubeurre, frozen of course. You can only find the vegan Butterbeer at the quick service restaurants and not at the stands outside or the bar. We also tried the Lavender Lemonade and Thé Fraise, which was a strawberry-mint tea. All of our drinks were absolutely delicious. The tea and the lemonade were very refreshing and something I would recommend if you don’t care for Butterbeer.

I highly recommend checking the Universal Orlando Vegans website for quick access to a list of the vegan options at the Universal parks.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
