Secret Vegan Chicken Tenders at Homecomin’ Florida Kitchen

When you think of Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ at Disney Springs you likely think of traditional southern comfort food. And if you think that, you are absolutely correct about the menu here. But if you’re the only vegan traveling with non-vegans who want to go here you may look at the menu and think ‘I can’t eat anything here!’ But I am here to let you in a little secret, they have vegan tenders!

While they’re not on the menu here, the service staff is very aware and knowledgable about what is vegan here. They offer Morningstar Chick’n Tenders here if you ask about them. They have had secret vegan tenders for years, as Corey and I tried them back in 2021 [review]. Back then they were Gardein tenders and we didn’t totally love them.

I recently was at Disney Springs with a friend who had never been there who is not vegan, and I told her the brunch there is apparently raved about so we should go there since I knew I could eat here too. We opted to sit at the bar instead of wait for a table and our bartender knew all about the vegan tenders and told me which sides were vegan too.

Vegan Chick’n Sandwich

I went with a vegan chicken sandwich, you can also swap the chicken on a salad here, and had to omit aioli. Last time we mixed mustard and agave, which was fine, but this time I asked for hot sauce. The hot sauce was the move for me as it was a nice heat, but if you can’t do heat then do the mix it yourself option.

Vegan Chick’n Sandwich

The sandwich came loaded with 5 vegan tenders, all cooked to perfection offering a nice crunch with the breading. I ended up taking one off to eat the sandwich with an even ratio. It also came with tomato, lettuce, pickles, and onion. You can customize it how you prefer. The sandwich was huge and super filling. The textures from the crunchy vegetables and breading paired perfectly with the soft bread.

I had the Braised Kale and Collards as my side here as I really enjoyed those last time. They have a more sweet than savory flavor. I definitely recommend them if you’re looking for some dark leafy greens. I know that the green beans and roasted veggies were also vegan, but be sure to confirm with your server if you go here for what else you can have.

Braised Kale and Collards

I really enjoyed this this time and will happily eat this again. I truly wish that it was noted on the menu somewhere that they had vegan chicken you could swap. I had a good conversation with the manager here after my meal and he was telling me how much he loved the vegan tenders. Just little things like that make my vegan heart so happy. Anything that can help people consume less animals and enjoy what they’re eating is so important.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
