It seems that Disney has finally listened to all the complaints of a particular dish in Magic Kingdom and have finally replaced it. I am so happy to see the Plant-based Crab Cake Sandwich be removed from the menu at Columbia Harbour House. We have a brand new vegan option here and I am pleased to say it is much better than the previous sandwich.

Columbia Harbour House is a quick service restaurant located in Liberty Square directly across from the Haunted Mansion. This restaurant features all indoor dining, and I recommend you dine upstairs where they have fun little windows that allow you to look out into the park. You can order on the My Disney Experience app here and I always recommend doing so when dining at the quick service restaurants to avoid the wait to order.

The new vegan sandwich here is the Plant-based Crispy Mushroom Roll. This sandwich has a similar vibe to the one from Rosie’s All-American Cafe in Hollywood Studios, as it’s a big roll filled with seafood inspired flavors.

The crispy mushrooms were not really the star of the dish as there weren’t really that many of them. I think in my massive sandwich I maybe had 6 slices of mushroom. Now I am not saying that is a problem as I really was okay with that amount. They added a nice crunchy texture with their cornmeal breading. The rest of the roll was mostly filled with lettuce and pickles and of course the tomatoes. If you have an aversion to mushrooms I really doubt you’ll even notice them as they didn’t taste like mushrooms or have a texture outside of the cornmeal crust.

They are calling the vegan tartar sauce on it spicy, but I felt like it just tasted like old bay. Overall flavor-wise it was mostly pickle and tartar sauce. There was a nice amount of the sauce too, and it was very creamy.

For the sides here we have the option of fries, green beans, or rice. I always enjoy the fries here so I opted for those with my roll and they were well salted and my ideal Disney fry.
When it comes down to it, I really enjoyed this sandwich. My roll was a bit greasy, so my fingers were completely covered by the time I finished, but I really liked the textures and flavors of the roll. This is a huge improvement from the dry texture nightmare that they used to serve. I will absolutely get this again when in Magic Kingdom as it was a lighter option in terms of taste.
