Brunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe

Imagine being able to eat so many options on a menu you have to actually pick and choose what you‘re going to order rather that having the one option available to you. Now imagine no longer, because that is exactly what it‘s like to eat at the Grand Floridian Cafe at Disney‘s Grand Floridian Resort.

Grand Floridian Cafe

This resort has the same menu for both breakfast and lunch, so we‘re calling this meal brunch since you can get all these options for a really long time. This restaurant is often overlooked, but if you‘re vegan you should make a point to visit here on an off day or during a Magic Kingdom day.

Since I went with Suzannah from @VeganDisneyFood we ordered everything we could with the exception of one dish. Almost everything we ate is available on the menu, we had two off menu options and we could have also had allergy friendly pancakes or waffles, but opted to pass on those during this visit.

We opted to start our meals with iced lattes as they have vegan milks available. I definitely recommend trying them if you are in need of a caffeine boost! We went with vanilla and oat milk.

We also were given the vegan and gluten free rolls from Bloomfield Farms with vegan butter. I honestly love these rolls so much, they always warm them up too. It is gluten free but I love the spongey texture of them.

So let‘s start with the on menu options listed under appetizers. We have two great options here and both of which could be their own lighter breakfast or brunch fare.

The Avocado Toast is one to not skip. This toast is a multigrain bread which adds some nice textures with seeds in the bread itself. It comes with plenty of avocado and then is topped with fire-roasted tomatoes and micro greens. The creamy avocado with the smoky tomatoes is just so good. I would happily eat a bowl of those tomatoes. If you‘re an avocado toast fan I definitely recommend this one.

Under appetizers you can also find the Fresh Fruit Bowl which is exactly that and more. This bowl is filled with tons of fresh fruit; we had berries, mango, kiwi, pineapple and more. It is topped with coconut-pineapple sorbet and shredded coconut. This was a similar vibe to an açaí bowl but also not at all. The sorbet was so creamy and had a great coconut flavor. The fruit bowl presentation was absolutely stunning I almost didn’t want to eat it because it was so pretty!

Now let‘s get to the entrees. On the menu you can find the Impossible Burger. This burger was cooked so well, very similarly to the one I had recently at The Plaza. They are really learning to properly cook and season those burgers at the table service restaurants.

Impossible Burger

This burger is topped with vegan cheese, an arugula aioli, and caramelized onions. This was one of the best vegan burgers I have had at a restaurant at Walt Disney World. The aioli was super unique and I really enjoyed the peppery flavor of the arugula in it. I would happily get this one again.

Not on the menu, but menu adjacent, is the modified Miso Glazed Tofu. This is a swap from the on menu version with salmon. I have had this before and loved it, so I was glad it was still a great option. They did change the presentation a bit since my last time having this and I now have to sauce it myself, but it was still just as good as before.

The miso glaze has a nice miso and sesame flavor to it. It‘s very sticky and easily coats the tofu. This dish comes with rice and green beans. I really enjoy the simplicity of this dish with the complexity of the miso glaze. It‘s a great option if you‘re looking for a faux meat free meal.

Another off menu option for us was a Tofu Scramble. They went pretty heavy on the seasoning for this, so neither of us really cared for it as it tasted like eating straight turmeric. But it may have just been a heavy handed seasoning day and not always like that. We had the option of bread, fruit, or potatoes as a side with the scramble so we opted for potatoes. They were cooked well but also heavily salted.

No meal is complete without dessert, even breakfast! So for us vegans we can get the Seasonal Fruit Cobbler. During our visit it was peach cobbler with a raspberry sorbet. The crumble on it was a bit grainy, but the flavors were great. It was a nice warm dish with the cool sorbet and vegan whipped cream. There were lots of large chunks of peaches in the cobbler and it was a nice end to a great meal.

I definitely recommend adding a visit here to your next trip. If you can‘t make it for breakfast, you can still get the miso tofu at dinner. Be sure to bring someone willing to share food with you so you can try as much as possible!

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
