Morimoto Asia’s New Lunch Bento Box

We were invited out by Morimoto Asia to try their new weekday lunch special at Disney Springs. During Monday through Friday at lunch (11:30-3:30) you can enjoy their new Bento Box option, one of which is easily made vegan!

Our server told us everything at the restaurant that was vegan. We were told we could enjoy the edamame, shishito peppers (without the creme fraiche), vegetable wontons, vegetable dumplings, kung pao cauliflower, stir-fried tofu medley, wok sautéed Chinese vegetables, modified fried rice, and modified lo mein. Additionally the soups either contain dashi or duck sauce, and the house made soy sauce contains dashi so we were given the gluten free tamari instead.

The Kung Pao Cauliflower is a vegan when you swap the soup for edamame. The bento box comes with the previously mentioned, your choice of white or brown rice, two dumplings, two vegetable sushi rolls, and a salad.

I was incredibly surprised by this portion size. I thought they would be much smaller like other bento boxes I’ve seen, but this was a huge platter. This is a really great way to try multiple things from here at once too.

Kung Pao Cauliflower Bento Box

The Kung Pao Cauliflower was absolutely delicious. The sauce had a perfect heat and sweet mix and was luscious and just so good. The cauliflower was cooked well and had a nice bite to it still. There were also lots of other vegetables in it including peppers, mushrooms, and onions. I used my rice to soak up the sauce so I could eat more of it.

The dumplings were good, the inside of them was mushy and had no textures, though it says that it was filled with cabbage and soybean. They were a unique texture for the wrapper and overall I did enjoy them. I would probably order these off the menu to enjoy not from the bento box.

The sushi rolls were fine, a pretty basic vegetable roll with carrot and avocado. The salad was pretty lackluster and just some leaves of lettuce with what I believe was a citrus vinaigrette. I did eat some of though as I enjoyed it even as simple as it was.

Edamame

The edamame was warm and we got a ton of it. There was a generous amount of sea salt on it too which was appreciated.

Our server also brought us an order of the Vegetable Wontons to try. These were preferred for us over the dumplings, which were basically the same thing as the filling was the same. These, however, were topped with a garlic chili oil and a spicy sesame sauce. The sauce wasn’t spicy at all, but I really loved the flavors of this and the crisp from the garlic chili oil. I would absolutely order these on their own and eat them by myself.

Vegetable Wontons

We also ordered the Tofu Vegetable Medley to try. The option was fine, Corey enjoyed it more than I did. We didn’t get a ton of tofu, but there were plenty of vegetables. The menu says it comes with a sweet soy sauce, but all I could taste was ginger. The tofu was flash fried and had a nice texture to it on the outside while being softer on the inside.

We also tried two of their mocktails during our lunch. Corey had the Mangogo and I went with the Dragon’s Roar per our servers recommendation. These were both really great, mine was very tart which I enjoyed and Corey’s had a great ginger beer flavor with the mango that was very refreshing.

It has been a long time since we came here. Mostly because I was turned off by the peking duck they had hanging in the kitchen during our meal here. The server informed me they have them out at dinner but not at lunch when I asked where they were. So if that is something that also doesn’t appeal to you, go for lunch. We have every intention of going back here to try the other veganized options, and of course get more of that cauliflower because I could bathe in a vat of that kung pao sauce.

Thank you again to Morimoto Asia for inviting us out to try this meal! I’m sorry for sleeping on this restaurant again for so long.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!

  1. My husband and I just had dinner there the other night. We ordered the cauliflower, dumplings, won tons and peppers. We thought the cauliflower was fab, though there was a bit too much heat for me. We ordered a side of rice ($2) to get every last drop of sauce, as the dinner portion doesn’t include rice.

We liked the dumpling better than the won tons, but the won ton sauce made them better overall. The peppers were boring. Not recommended.

Our waiter John was really nice and said that when we came back he could get us the veg sushi at dinner time (wasn’t on the menu) and also lo mein.

We thought the food was excellent and look forward to returning with friends when we’re back in the area in April. Thanks for the additional info here.
