Liberty Tree Tavern Vegan Family Style Dinner

We made it over to Liberty Tree Tavern for some traditional American fare last night. When the parks reopened, Liberty Tree Tavern changed their menus to reflect the same family style for both lunch and dinner. Previously I have dined at this Magic Kingdom restaurant during lunch, which was à la carte style, but with the same main entree that’s offered during family style.

The All-You-Care-To-Enjoy Plant-based Tavern Keeper’s Feast meal begins with the Declaration Salad. To get this vegan they swap the dressing, as the normal one contains honey. You get to enjoy the salad with a Apple Cider Vinaigrette which is sweetened with maple syrup instead.

The salad itself was very… okay. It seemed to be a quick pre-bagged lettuce mix with some lettuce, cabbage, carrot, grape tomatoes, and radish. The dressing, however, was very good. Put that on the right salad mix and this would be a much better option. But for a family style Disney World starter salad, it was good.

We were given rolls to start with as well and were told they were vegan friendly, they also gave us vegan butter for them. The rolls weren’t warm, but they were still a good classic dinner roll. They pulled apart well, and had a nice flavor.

Right when we were beginning to eat our salad, our entree came out too. The main entree here is the Revolutionary Impossible Meatloaf. The Impossible meatloaf comes topped with a mushroom gravy and a side of mashed potatoes and green beans.

Revolutionary Impossible Meatloaf

I’ve had this dish previously and feel that have changed the meatloaf some how. I can’t really pinpoint what it was that was different. This time it seemed to be softer, and last time had more of a crispness to the edges. Corey noted that it was more of a soy-chorizo texture, and I think that was the best way to describe it.

When I had it before it also just tasted like an Impossible burger, but this time it had a bit more of a heat to it, but was still very burger flavor heavy. I could have used more mushroom gravy on mine, as only two of my pieces had any on it. The gravy is very good, has whole mushrooms in it too. As a whole though, they are good, but I’ve never had meatloaf that wasn’t vegan to really compare.

The mashed potatoes weren’t as soft and light as previously, but they were still good. They had a bit of a dryness to them, but when eaten with the meatloaf it was fine. You were also given a large helping of the potatoes on each plate.

The green beans were cooked really well. They had a nice firmness but were still soft. There was a good flavor and seasoning to them, and although there was plenty of garlic on them, it wasn’t overly garlicky (not that that would be a bad thing!).

For dessert here there are two vegan options, Seasonal Sorbet, and the Johnny Appleseed’s Warm Apple Cake. We obviously went with the apple cake.

Johnny Appleseed’s Warm Apple Cake

The Warm Apple Cake was the best part of this whole meal. Not that the entree wasn’t good, but this cake is amazing. It was the perfect fall dessert for us. The cake, as it said, was warm, and topped with a vegan whipped cream. There were chunks of apples in the cake too.

Upon first bite it didn’t seem all that great, as the edges were kind of hard, but once you really got in there, oh boy. I would absolutely get this dessert again. I hope they eventually go back to being à la carte style for lunch so I can come in for Warm Apple Cake.

The kids option here is the exact same as the adults. The whole meal is All-You-Care-To-Enjoy so if you want more of something you’re welcome to ask for it. We left so incredibly full though, so we never asked for more food.

Revolutionary Impossible Meatloaf

This is a great place to head for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner since they offer super traditional American fare. It’s also a great option for those dining with non-vegans who don’t want to try something “adventurous” like Jungle Navigation Co. Skipper Canteen at the Magic Kingdom.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!

  1. Had this tonight (2/9/24) The portion size on this is huge. While not a burger it’s essentially the same size as 3 burgers.
