New Harambe offers Zuri’s Sweets Shop

During our last trip we were finally able to check out the new Harambe section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. While exploring, we came across a new shop named Zuri’s Sweets Shop. This shop is an extension of Mombasa Marketplace and can be entered from that store or their own door.

When we went into the shop the first thing we noticed was a large bakery case full of cupcakes, cakes and cookies. We checked it and nothing appeared to be vegan so we continued looking in the shop. As we were looking we saw a huge wall with bulk food items, it was like we transported to Whole Foods.

We looked closer and found tons of vegan options. The price is a little steep here, $8.98 per half pound, but you can make a pretty healthy on the go snack here. Over here we found almonds, granola, chocolates and much more. There are a few dried fruit options here including mango, apricot, papaya and banana chips.

Every food item has a full ingredient list and an allergy warning. There were quite a few options for almonds which included raw almonds, roasted and salted almonds and cocoa almonds.

There were a few mixed nut options as well including Trail Mix, Roasted & Salted Pumpkin Seeds and Roasted & Salted Mixed Nuts. The Trail Mix Delight was a mix of raisins, sunflower seeds, cashews, almonds and pumpkin seeds. The Deluxe Mixed Nuts consisted of cashews, almonds, pecans, hazelnuts, brazil nuts and walnuts.

There was one granola option but it does contain honey. Lastly you could get Roasted & Salted Blanched Peanuts and Raw Sunflower Seeds.

Almost everything that is roasted contains peanut oil, which is unfortunate to anyone who has allergies to it. This is a pretty cool option for a backpack snack while in the parks, it’s just kind of hard to stomach $9 per half pound. Happy snacking!

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
