The Tamed Dragon Salad is a delicious vegan salad filled with red dragon fruit, quinoa, raspberries, mandarin oranges, almonds, spinach, cucumber, and a guava vinaigrette. We weren’t expecting much out of this salad but it truly wowed us both in taste and presentation.

The salad has tons of dragon fruit and quinoa mixed in and the sweet and sourness of the guava vinaigrette really complimented the more earthy flavor of the spinach. It offered lots of nice textures with crunch from the cucumbers and almonds. This dish offered a much needed vibrancy and fresh flavor for theme park food. This is a salad I would absolutely get again on a hot theme park day!

In addition to the salad you can get the Magician Meatball Cone made vegan. This dish comes in a garlic bread cone and features vegan meatballs, vegan parmesan, and cavatappi noodles tossed in a tomato sauce. This option was what we were most looking forward to trying and actually left us a little disappointed.

The garlic cone was the best part for us as the meatballs and the cavatappi noodles were severely overcooked mush. The garlic gone had a nice bite to it and was thinner than I was expecting. The marinara sauce was bland tomato sauce. Our meatballs were so mushy that I struggled to find any flavor in them. I really hope the one we got was just a bad one because I was really excited for this and it was just a mushy plate.

I would be willing to give the Magician Meatball Cone another try, but the salad is likely the one I would order if I eat here again. As always be sure to check out Universal Orlando Vegans website to stay up to date on all vegan Universal items!

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
