Breakfast at Steakhouse 71 – Avocado Toast, Vegan Omelets and Mickey Waffles!

The Avocado Toast here is no longer plant-based, but the Veggie Omelet now is! Read the updated review here.

If you’re looking to start your day with a delicious meal, then take a look at Steakhouse 71! This restaurant is located at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and offers delicious options for all three meal times. We have eaten here before for lunch [review here], but we hadn’t done breakfast yet. So I took Finn and we went to check out the options both on and off the menu.

Available on the menu for vegans is a fruit plate, oatmeal, and avocado toast. When looking at the allergy kids menu they do also have allergy waffles, which are both vegan and gluten free. Off menu we heard from our friends Princess and the Bear that they can do a vegan JUST egg omelet. So we went for all the entrees!

Breakfast Menu July 2024

The Avocado Toast is very similar to what was offered here back when it was The Wave. You get three slices of sourdough bread topped with a slightly tangy avocado mash and onion jam. The citrusy flavor of the avocado pairs well with the sweet onion jam. They were also topped with a slice of radish, pepitas, and micro greens. The portion is great for the price, and it comes with vegan breakfast potatoes.

The potatoes were well seasoned and salted. They had a nice cook to them and weren’t dry. They were the perfect side with this avocado toast.

My off menu omelet was also very good. You can choose what you want to put on it and they charge the price of the “Veggie Omelet” from the menu. I went with my classic vegan cheese, spinach, and mushrooms.

The omelet was cooked well and had a nice flavor. They added a decent amount of vegan cheese both inside and out. I did not love the mushrooms. They were the kind that have that seafood-like flavor, so I picked them off. I would get this again but switch to peppers and onions personally.

Fresh Fruit Side

Since this meal also comes with potatoes, my server suggested fruit as a side instead. The mixed fruit is your standard melon mix with pineapple and a berry.

The kids option for the allergy waffles comes with two waffles and two sides. You do have to note that you want the vegan potatoes as they apparently don’t make them vegan as is. We were also able to get a kids soy milk for his drink, they have Very Vanilla and Chocolate available.

The waffles were really good, they didn’t have a weird cake texture that some others end up with. These were some of the best waffles I’ve had on Disney property. I enjoyed them more than Finn, who ended up eating all his potatoes and then mine as well.

This was such a great breakfast and I highly recommend it if you have a Magic Kingdom or EPCOT day planned. It’s super easy to get to both of those parks from this resort. And as a reminder, you do not need to be a guest of this resort to dine here, but you will need a dining reservation to get in here if you are driving to the resort.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
