Epcot International Festival of the Arts 2019

Boy does Epcot love festivals! The newest festival to hit is the Epcot International Festival of the Arts which showcases culinary art as well as classic arts. Here you can find the usual booths around World Showcase Lagoon, Broadway singers, and a bunch of extra popups with actual art to purchase. It has a very local arts festival feel while still being Disney. The Epcot International Festival of the Arts runs from January 18th to February 25th.

Epcot International Festival of the Arts 2019

We weren’t expecting much in terms of vegan options since it’s such a short festival and isn’t totally food focused (like the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival). Since the food options are very limited we also wanted to showcase what else you can do during this festival.

But first, food. We studied the menus before going and there was only one option that looks promising to us. Our first order of business was to find a Chef to ask about the options as they recently have had all the ingredients on their phones for quick look ups. When speaking to a manager, who then called a chef, we were told there was nothing vegan. Then when I asked about a specific item we had seen in China she informed us that they only knew of what was Disney’s booths. Disney owned booths will have cast members at the registers wearing white chef jackets. She told us that we would have to go to China, Morocco, France, etc. to find out from them personally. The Disney booths seemed to be easy to spot once we knew of this white jacket uniform.

So we went to China and were fortunate enough to speak with the China booth manager who was hanging around the booth. He told us the Plum Infused Cherry Tomatoes were vegan and they were just plum sauce and tomatoes. I asked him if they had a sheet with the ingredients and he said it was vegan.

So I went to get my Plum Infused Cherry Tomatoes. Having asked at this booth specifically in the past and having them show me a full ingredient list, I figured I would ask the cast member at the register if they had one. She quickly pulled out a sheet with the ingredients so I could confirm what was in it. As the manager had said, it was in fact vegan! (Paranoid vegan much?)

These tomatoes were absolutely delicious. They also came with the worlds cutest tiny plastic chopsticks (so be sure to ask for none if you have your own utensils). They were very refreshing, sweet and a great soft texture that wasn’t too mushy. I would absolutely get these again.

When I was picking up my tomatoes, the manager mentioned to me about the Sugar Painting as the artist was currently at work. These are just sugar based, which I confirmed with the manager. If you want a cool souvenir that you can eat, it too can be yours for $15.

So that was it for us for food. But there are tons of great drinks you can find all around the festival. At the bottom of this post you can find the full menus for the festival. If you don’t know if a drink is vegan be sure to check Barnivore or download their app Vegaholic.

So what else is there to do since you can’t eat? There is a cute paint by number mural near Canada called Expression Session: Paint-by-Number Mural.

As with other festivals, there is a scavenger hunt with Figment that takes you around World Showcase looking for various art pieces. You must purchase a map and you will get a gift when you’re done.

There is Disney on Broadway stars everyday for three shows. The shows are at the America Gardens Theatre and are at 5:30pm, 6:45pm, and 8:00pm. You can find the full list of performers here.

There is also chalk art to see, seminars, and fun photo-ops throughout the park. While the food options for vegans are, well, not there, there is still plenty to see and do. Plus our favorite guy Figment is plastered all over the park, which we love to see.
