We can finally eat a sundae at Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop at Disney Springs! For years I have dreamt of being able to enjoy a sundae here, and they went full in with the vegan option here which is amazing to see.
The sundae is called the Non-Dairy Hot Fudge Sundae and features vegan coconut ice cream, hot fudge made with non-dairy chocolate chips and almond milk, an almond milk based whipped cream, diced almonds, a cherry, and of course a dark chocolate square.
The hot fudge was delicious and exactly how I remember hot fudge to be. It did start to get a little brownie batter-like as it cooled down, but when it was hot it was really good. The ice cream being coconut based melted really quickly, and the hot fudge with it didn’t help the case.
The whipped cream didn’t add too much over all in terms of texture or flavor, however it was a nice addition to hold the almonds and the chocolate wedge. It was pretty pricey, about $16 with tax, and we shared the sundae. However the pricing wasn’t much more than their non vegan sundaes, so I guess that’s just how it is there. I would absolutely get it again, but it is definitely a special treat for while on vacation!
