Vegan Sundaes from the BoardWalk Ice Cream Shop

A vegan sundae topped with sauces and whipped cream isn’t just a dream, it’s a reality at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. A new ice cream shop opened its doors this summer at this resort and replaced the previous Ample Hills location next to the BoardWalk Bakery. This ice cream shop offers several vegan choices to build up your ultimate sundae.

When checking the menu board there are two vegan ice cream choices, both of which are Tofutti brand. Tofutti is a soy based ice cream and it is so creamy and absolutely delicious. They have vanilla and chocolate flavors available.

If you can’t do soy, I highly recommend you write to Special Diets and ask that they carry Rice Dream or SoDelicious there as well to help cater to more allergies. (Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com)

I checked the allergy binder when visiting to see what sauces were vegan. They do have an easy to read quick allergy chart, but if you need full ingredient lists you can ask for the binder.

The vegan sauce options included the peanut butter, chocolate, marshmallow, pineapple, and strawberry sauces. I also quick checked some of the toppings and the sprinkles they use are not vegan and contain confectioners glaze (this is the glazed coating which is made from bugs, not to be confused with confectioners sugar which is sugar).

They also have cake cones that are vegan. They didn’t have the ingredients for me to check the sugar cone, but those usually contain honey at Walt Disney World.

I opted for a kids scoop of the vanilla Tofutti topped with marshmallow sauce, chocolate sauce, and coconut based Reddi Wip (which you have to ask for specifically). The kids scoop was huge, but boy was this sundae E V E R Y T H I N G. This hit the spot on a hot day.

The marshmallow sauce doesn’t have a strong flavor, but my chocolate sauce with the whipped cream and ice cream went together perfectly.

The other week Corey stopped by for his own sundae. His was topped with peanut butter sauce and the coconut Reddi Wip. You have the option here of a single scoop to three scoops, but know the scoops are big.

The Beaches and Cream to go window at Disney’s Beach Club is currently closed indefinitely, so if you’re at these resorts this is the place to get your ice cream fix without a reservation.

The ice cream shop opens in the afternoons and is open until late evening. If you plan on trying this (which you need to) I highly recommend you check the app for their hours before heading over. This is just a short walk from Epcot. I will absolutely be stopping by for a sundae again!

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
